Restatement of Thesis: White-collar workers have been impacted by remote work through increased comfort, productivity, flexibility, and decreased spending; however, a reluctancy to keep an entirely remote work environment by employers still exists. Summarization: Remote work provides comfort to employees by reducing microaggressions and increased investments in personal work setups. Increased productivity has been seen through remote work as it reduced distractions and improving mental wellbeing. Employees are offered more flexibility through remote work by providing time for extra tasks and reducing fears of missing out on things happening at the office. Employees have been able to save money through remote work by reducing their commuting costs and eating out less. Companies are reluctant to continue a fully remote model after the pandemic ends as seen through concerns over reduced spontaneity and the option of utilizing a hybrid model instead. Final Thought: Though corporate office environments have been around long before many of us were even born, it is interesting that just a little over one year of remote work has completely upended what employees are now looking for when thinking about their next career move.
