Ocean pollution is a huge problem in the ocean because there is over 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic debris in the ocean. This is a problem because fish or turtles mistake the plastics or garbage for food and the eat it and die. We could solve this be stop dumping trash into the ocean and start cleaning up the oceans.

Humans affect the environment by producing genetically modified organisms. This causes an increase in uses of herbicides and pesticides, which makes high toxin levels in the soil and also kill insects that may actually be beneficial. Some GMO foods can also cause allergic reactions, cancers, and loss of nutrition. A solution is for farmers to grow crops organically without being modified and covered in chemicals.

Deforestation due to humans has caused many species to go extinct. These species go extinct because they cannot adapt fast enough. Deforestation causes animals to lose their homes, sources of food, and increases the rate of predation. We can stop this by creating specially protected areas where these endangered animals live. To prevent this we can have specific areas where we grow and cut trees instead of just cutting down forests where animals live.

Overhunting any kind of animal can cause serious issues in different ecosystems. When animals are poached (hunted illegally) their population can be negatively impacted. Once these populations are near extinction or do go extinct the food web becomes messed up and unbalanced. This then causes a ripple effect of other populations becoming harmed. Laws are being put in place and are also being enforced to ensure animal safety.

Bringing in invasive species impacts the survival rate of native plants and animals. The invasive species will compete for space, change the habitat, and can cause the extinction of native species. It also messes up the food chain of the ecosystem. One way you can stop the spread of invasive plants are by physically removing the plant by pulling or cutting it

Desertification is usually caused by the deforestation of large areas which causes deserts to be created. It can also be caused by over farming which destroys soils. While some places like Baghdad have started to feel the increasing effects of desertification on agriculture, places like Mongolia have tried to reverse the effects of desertification by creating laws against deforestation and also starting conservation efforts in order to help dying forests stay alive and healthy.

La Zone Rouge (the red zone) tin France is a cordoned off battle field from WWI that is littered with unexploded bombs. A small team works to clear the area but with only 6 people it is estimated to take hundreds of years to remove them all. The bombs are getting old and are becoming unstable, causing them to detonate. Chemical bombs in the area are leaking toxic chemicals into the soil and the ground. The ecosystem has come a long way since WWI, as new plants that can survive the conditions populate the area, but it won't be stable again until every bomb is gone.

Humans impact the environment by overpopulation. This occurrence has led to an increase in the extraction of raw materials. The earth and its inhabitants rely on these raw materials for every day of life. Without specific resources, plants and animals can go extinct. Overpopulation also has led to the destruction of animals in order to create more living space. With an ecosystem being destroyed, its inhabitants of it can go extinct.

Humans have affected the environment by overfishing. Overfishing can change the size of the fishes population. When too many fish are taken out of the ocean it creates an imbalance that can erode the food web and lead to any other important loss in marine life, such as sea turtles, coral, etc.

Invasive species may cause economic harm. For example if humans bring over invasive animals, they will have to pay money associated with invasive species control efforts.
