Name: Riza Yosia Sunindijo
One of my favourites (no wonder it is on the cover page of my course outline; I took that photo myself btw). Turning Torso is the tallest building in Nordic countries, 190 m, 54 floors. I like its twisting design, which was unique at that time. It is actually the first in a wave of the so-called twisting buildings.

This tower is also named 'Freedom Tower', and stands as a reminder of the resilience of New York. The building is 546 meters to the tip. The final design consisted of simple symmetries and a more traditional profile, intended to compare with selected elements of the contemporary New York skyline. This building appeals to me the most due to the significance behind its construction after the terrorist attacks in September, 2011. I am also a fan of the glass facade and shape of the building.

Name: Richard Howley
At their completion in 1973 the two towers of the World trade Centre were the tallest buildings in the world. Their distinctive rectangular shapes towered above the new York Skyline making them instantly recognizable around the world. They were a symbol of Americas status as the world superpower and of economic prosperity. They were destroyed in the 9/11 attack and their destruction started a war that is ongoing today 17 years later. This a prime example of the symbolism the built form plays in our collective psyche and that buildings are more than the sum of the materials they are made from.

Chrysler also never paid William Van Alen (the architect) due to shady financial arrangements and never entering a formal contract for his fees. The Cloud Club, once occupied on the 66th to the 68th floor, was an inspiration for many to be apart of, featuring a range of designs such as futurism in the main dining room, Tudor for the lounge and an Old English grill room.

It is also the tallest observation tower in the southern hemisphere and includes a rotating restaurant at its peak. Despite its wirey frame, it is able to withstand extreme wind conditions and earthquakes. It cost $36million AUD to construct and was opened to the public in 1981.

Name: QINGXIA ZHANG Taipei 101, formerly known as the Taipei World Financial Center - is a landmark supertall skyscraper in Taipei, Taiwan. The reason why I like it is the observatory is spread over 4 floors where visitors can enjoy the fantastic scenery. And from 6:00 to 10:00 each evening, the tower's lights display one of seven colours in the spectrum. The firework of New Year's Eve Celebration in Taipei 101 is really fantastic.

With a total of 39 storeys it is one of the tallest buildings in Nagoya.

The first thing that drew me to it is its complex twisting design, yet simple geometric facade. Making it also hypnotising to look at. Another thing that I found insightful about this tower is that it is not a commercial tower as you might naturally think. The Mode-Gakuen Spiral Tower is actually an educational facility, home to three vocational schools. This I believe adds greater appeal to this tower.
