- “That’s the problem. We let people say stuff, and they say it so much that it becomes okay to them and normal for us. What’s the point of having a voice if you’re gonna be silent in those moments you shouldn’t be?”
I like this quote because saying speak your mind when you need to and don't let people get comfortable enough to say almost anything to you.
- “God gave you a brain. You don't need theirs.”
I like this because it's saying don't think for yourself and don't let anyone else think for you.
- “Brave doesn’t mean you’re not scared, Starr,” she says. “It means you go on even though you’re scared. And you’re doing that.” She says.
I like this quote because she is saying you can be brave and afraid at the same time you just have to be able to fight through the fear.

This song talks about cops killing innocent black people because they have colored skin just like in the book.

I would recommend this book to everyone really. This books is talking about stuff that has been tearing our country apart. All people, no matter what ethnicity, should read how America really is. This book will help people understand how life is for the lower class African Americas.

I like that the book tackles the problems blacks have to deal with currently. The characters that I found interesting was Khalil. Khalil was interesting because everyone thought he was a thug but in actuality that wasn’t the case. Khalil was misunderstood. Khalil died because of his skin color. This connects to the world as we know it now. There are people of color being killed by cops because of their skin color.
