We perform our prayers sincerely for the sake of Allah alone, not to show off to others or gain their praise, but because we are His devoted servants, and it is our duty to worship Him. Our intention behind every act of worship, especially salah, should come from a place of sincerity and submission to our Creator, acknowledging that it is an essential part of our faith and obedience to Him.

Prayer also serves to instill a deep sense of consciousness and awareness of Allah (taqwa) within us. Knowing that Allah is always watching over everything we do makes us more careful in our actions, helping us to avoid sinful or harmful behavior. This constant awareness of His presence reminds us to stay on the right path and act in ways that are pleasing to Him.

Moreover, the five daily prayers are scheduled at specific times throughout the day, from dawn until night, which helps ensure that we remain connected to Allah no matter how busy our lives become. Each call to prayer (azan) acts as a reminder to pause, reflect, and turn away from the distractions of the world. It offers us consistent opportunities to focus on our spiritual well-being and realign our hearts and minds with our faith, reinforcing the importance of prioritizing our relationship with Allah amidst our daily responsibilities.

1. Niat (Intention)
Niat is the internal intention or purpose behind performing an act of worship. In Islam, every act of worship, whether it is prayer, fasting, giving charity, or Hajj, must be done with the proper intention in the heart.
It’s not always something you have to say out loud; it’s the presence of purpose in your heart. For example, before you pray, your niat is to perform that specific prayer (e.g., "I am about to pray Maghrib for the sake of Allah"). Without the correct niat, the act of worship may not be valid.

2. Clean Intention
Having a clean intention means your purpose for doing something is sincere and pure, done for Allah alone and not for fame, praise, or personal gain.
In worship, this means praying not because people are watching, or because it’s a routine, but because you want to seek closeness to Allah. A clean intention is free from riya’ (showing off) and worldly motivations. It reflects sincerity and truthfulness in our relationship with Allah.

3. Set the Right Intention
This means to consciously and deliberately remind yourself why you are performing an act: to please Allah.
Before praying or doing anything good, you should set the right intention in your heart. For example, when helping someone, : “Am I doing this for Allah’s reward, or for people’s approval?” If the purpose is aligned with faith, it becomes an act of worship, even daily actions like studying, working, or helping parents.

4. Focus
Focus (khushu’) in Islam, especially in prayer, means being mentally and spiritually present, avoiding distractions, and feeling humility before Allah.
Many people pray physically, but their minds are thinking about other things. True focus means that during prayer, your heart is connected to what you're saying, you’re aware you're standing before Allah. You understand the words of your recitation and feel their meaning.

5. Ihsan
Ihsan means doing something in the best, most excellent way, being deeply sincere and aware of Allah in every action. It is an act of doing everything as if Allah is watching every step of our doing.

Why:
In Islam, being good to parents is one of the greatest deeds. Allah commands us to honor them right after commanding us to worship Him.

2. Sedeqah (Charity)

What it means:
Sedeqah (or sadaqah) is giving something, money, food, time, help, or even a smile, to others sincerely for the sake of Allah, without expecting anything in return.

Why:
Charity helps those in need and cleanses your heart from greed. It brings blessings (barakah) into your life and protects you from harm.

3. Choose the Right Leader
Choosing the right leader means selecting someone who is honest, responsible, just, and cares for the people. A good leader follows Islamic values and leads with fairness and wisdom.

Why:
A leader influences the direction of a community or country. If the leader is corrupt, the people may suffer. Islam teaches that leadership is a big trust (amanah), and it must be given to someone who is qualified and trustworthy.

Main Objectives

1. Encourage Mindfulness: Be aware of what you say and do, even if it seems minor.

2. Raise Awareness: Understand that small actions can be sinful and hurtful.

3. Reinforce Accountability: Take responsibility, apologize, and avoid repeating mistakes.

Quranic Emphasis

Surah Al-Zalzalah (99:7-8) is quoted to highlight that every action, good or bad, even the weight of an atom—will be seen and judged.

Examples

• Joking by calling someone by their father’s name (may unintentionally offend).

• Attending religious talks to learn about sins.

• Saying sorry and repenting sincerely.

The video talk about an incident where Prophet Musa (Moses) suffered from a disease and sought a cure through medicine. However, his efforts were unsuccessful until Allah reminded him that true healing comes only from Him. This story highlight the importance of placing complete trust in Allah, recognizing that while medicine is a means, ultimate healing is granted by Allah's will.

2. Sham'an: The Hidden Believer in Pharaoh's Family

This short tells the story of Sham'an, a man from Pharaoh's own family who secretly believed in Allah. Despite the danger, he bravely advised Pharaoh not to kill Prophet Musa, who had been sent by Allah. This highlights the courage and faith of individuals who uphold the truth, even in the face of personal risk.

3. When a Tiny Red Worm Gave a Lesson to Prophet Daud

In this video, Prophet Daud observes a tiny red worm and initially sees it as insignificant. However, upon reflection, he realizes that every creature has a purpose and that even the smallest beings can offer significant lessons. This story teaches humility and the importance of recognizing the value in all of Allah's creations.

4.4. The Story of the Man Who Killed 99 People

This video tells the story of a man who had committed 99 murders. Feeling remorseful, he sought forgiveness and asked a religious scholar if he could repent. The scholar told him that he couldn't be forgiven, so the man killed him too, making it 100 murders. Later, he found another scholar who advised him to leave his sinful environment and move to a place where people worshipped Allah. On his way there, he died. Angels of mercy and angels of punishment argued over his soul. Allah judged that he was closer to the land of mercy, so He forgave him. Hence, proving that no matter how big our sins are, Allah's mercy is greater. If we sincerely repent and strive to change, Allah can forgive us.

This video tells the story of Prophet Musa (Moses) confronting Pharaoh's magicians. When Musa threw his staff by Allah's command, it turned into a real snake, overpowering the magicians' illusions. Witnessing this true miracle, the magicians recognized the truth and believed in Allah, despite Pharaoh's threats. This story highlights the power of genuine faith and the impact of witnessing divine

2. The Angel's Wing Broken for Not Honoring the Prophet

In this short, it's narrated that an angel was punished by Allah for not standing up to honor Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. As a result, the angel's wing was broken. This story emphasizes the importance of respecting and honoring the Prophet, showing that even angels are held accountable for their actions.

3. Prophet Sulaiman's Attempt to Feed All Creatures

This video shares the story of Prophet Sulaiman (Solomon), who, despite his immense wealth and resources, attempted to feed all the creatures on Earth. He soon realized that only Allah has the power to provide sustenance to all living beings. This teaches us about the vastness of Allah's provision and the limitations of human capabilities.

Through the usrah's journey, with the help of my facilitator, I managed to gain a lot of new knowledge such as the story of prophets, the advantages of doing good deeds and many more. Usrah has helped me to refresh my mind after struggling and stressing over academic matters. I also managed to make a lot of new friends from other courses resulting for stronger ukhwah among us students. Usrah is definitely an enjoyable subject to take and worth to dive deeper in.
