I'm Jinhwa, and I'll be your teacher for this summer intensive course. I was born and raised in Korea, but I moved to the U.S. about four years ago. Before coming here, I spent 10 years teaching English to Korean students in a secondary school. Later on, I had the amazing opportunity to teach ESL courses to international students at Columbia University in New York. In terms of education, I completed my undergraduate studies in Korea, got a TESOL certificate from Columbia University, and earned my Master's in education from the University of Virginia.
Now, here's a fun fact about me: I'm an army wife, which is what brought me to Fort Bliss in El Paso. Along the way, I've been fortunate enough to travel to various places like India, Turkey, Russia, nine countries in Europe, China, and many states within the U.S. I absolutely love immersing myself in different languages and cultures.
Being a recent immigrant and someone who learned English as a foreign language, I understand firsthand how challenging and time-consuming it can be to master the language. That's why I feel it's my true calling to assist non-native English speakers in their academic and professional journeys. I genuinely believe that learning English can open up countless opportunities for success.
