My Mentor's Music Taste

Over the last 64 years, my mentor's music taste has grown but there are a few meaningful bands that have stayed constant. First is one of their more favorite rock bands being Rush. He has seen the band 9 times and continues to love their music, especially the live versions. Going to these concerts, and many more, are memorable moments for Anthony.

I found this a little comical after past work we have done but my mentor Anthony said to floss!! He said he never accepted the importance of it and is unfortunately now dealing with the after math of not flossing consistently throughout his life. He said to cherish our beautiful young smiles and keep them healthy.

Stay Active!! Anthony says to stay active in order to reduce stress, to stay in shape, to have a clear mind and to just feel good. He has learned over his life time that his best, clear minded times were when he was working out consistently in order to reduce stress and feel good. And he recommends that even through the hardest times to continue staying active daily. Staying healthy and fit is an extra benefit, it is essential for the mind to continue exercising.

Don't take everything personally. Anthony said he has noticed over recent years that everyone seems to take more and more things personally. Each one of us had our own individual lives to live and fulfill. He says to not let others invade that or make it more complicated than it is. Create your own opinion and belief's and to stick with them.

If You Love Music...Invest in it

Anthony's "saving grace" as he calls it is music. He spends a lot of time playing the piano and the guitar, which he has a multitude of. Just like exercise, playing and listening to music is for keeping a clear mind. For Anthony it is an essential part of the day to listen or play music that he enjoys. It is a boost of happiness that he finds important for him. And he says, that if you love an instrument play it, if you love a multitude of genres create playlists and if you love music, invest in it.

A View On Society

Anthony said he has watched the progression of technology and the way the world has changed in using it more frequently. There are positive to technology he says but he urges to only us when necessary. For example a job, a lot of jobs require technology, to send emails and using Zoom. This is obviously a necessary use of technology. But otherwise he urges future generations to get off social media and phones. And with that continues to recommend exercise, staying active and finding a hobby that ignites passion, such as music.

Billy Joel and Elton John

Artists that made an impact on Anthony was Billy Joel and Elton John. As I mention in this Time Capsule music is a big hobby for Anthony. And playing songs by these two artists brings him back to his own adolescence and 20s. He was able to see them in concert as well. Which to him makes the songs so much better when you listen to them following a concert because you are brought back to that memorable time.

Childhood Moments

Anthony is one of ten siblings and he is the oldest. Their family was raised on a farm, which had chickens, cows and goats. So he told me a bit about his mornings on the farm which consisted of waking up at 5am by the roosters and going out to milk his own cow. As he grew up more and more of his siblings followed this morning routine. And he would teach them along with his father and mother, how to make cream and butter. They would have their own cream and butter for meals which in his opinion is the best way you can have them. He even recalled a story when one of siblings jokingly fooling around with a cow. They ended up regretting that decision and getting kicked a bit.

Fishing Story

Anthony's favorite hobby is fishing and it all started when his father would take him as a child. This is a stress reliever for him to this day. In regards to it he recommends to all, to have a hobby like this. One that causes no stress and allows for all thoughts to flow as it leads to having an extreme amount of patience.

Anthony's Joy of Life

His joy of his life is his four daughters. He says to me that he was meant to have daughters in order to to show him what true love is but also to show him who's boss, he has found the hard way that it is not him. He has a unique relationship with each of them and cherishes them all. He even said if you can have a kid of your own to do it. Having four daughters has taught him the most if this world.

Keep Those Good Close

Anthony has found that having a close good friends is better than too many non-genuine people in your life. He cherishes the close friends he has. These people he considers close have been in his life for 20+ years. His advice is to let those in that allow yourself to be you naturally. Everything in life that is for you comes naturally including good friendships. Anthony suggests cherishing them to their full extent.
