To call it simply studying while working - you mostly spend time at work with a little bit of studying.

I was considering this option as I feel that work experience is much more important than theory, however while looking at Universities I got to know that we are also doing projects, not all but some of them are life briefs which would prepare me to everyday graphic job.

University: I think it is the safest and smarter option for me - a lot of job require a degree and 1-2 years of experience therefore I was looking for 3-4 years courses which would have strong business connection or a year in work practise. I think the 4 yr course is the best option as it guarantee the work experience, however not all of the universities which is a bit of disappointment.

Graphic Communication and Illustration Course

Graphic Communication and Illustration is a flexible course that can be tailored to your interests, whether those are in computer-aided design, hand-drawn illustrations, app development, computer game development, or visual branding. The potential is vast, with final projects having previously included; corporate advertisement campaigns, children’s book illustrations, websites, smart phone and tablet apps, brochures, computer games, illustrated comics, puppet animations, and animated films, amongst others.

I quite like this course as it combines the Graphics and Illustration together - I always was quite happy to work with illustrations and still would like to continue with developing my skill in this area.
I will definitely consider going to this University as first choice.

Graphic Design Course

I really love the Graphic course there, i think it would perfectly prepare me for a job as a graphic designer - it does not include illustration aspect of it however I still could use it as some parts of my designs. It includes all aspects of graphics which I want to develop or try, which is amazing. It is also a university of the first choice. I am not quite sure how I feel about this university. It is high in rankings and has a good reputation and a lot of connection to graphic business world, however I don't like the feel of this university. I am not happy with the course content and I can't force myself to like it. However, I will give it a try and go for an interview there at it is highly recommended by many people and tutors. It would be my second choice university, just in case when I wouldn't get a place in my first choice universities.

I am not really interested in this university, it doesn't offer much, however it would be good as university just to attent - maybe it was a bad idea to actually think of going to university just to go there, but I need a safe place just in case. Many people talk about this university as they accept everyone there so if none of my first choise universities won't accept me I still will be able to get a place.

I quite like the reputation of the university, however it didn't have a course which I would like. Also mu tutor mentioned that it probably isn't a good idea to apply there, therefore I dropped the idea as nothing really kept me to apply there.

Illustration and Graphics

This course is for those students who wish to turn their creative flair into a fully developed professional creative career. The course teaches those skills needed to work in the highly contemporary field of illustration, graphic design, animation and creative media both in the UK and internationally.

The first year focuses on developing new skills and applying these to project briefs. Students are taught essential software packages; screen print and drawing skills as well as developing their ideas, skills in graphic design, illustration for editorial and narrative, character design and typography. Alongside this, students study professional practice and have contextual modules.

Year 2 focuses on developing students own personal approach to illustration and design and begin to apply this within a professional context. Experimentation is encouraged and students explore a range of workshops including 3D modelling, moving image and digital approaches. Students undertake either a short placement or work on live client based modules in this year.

You also have the choice to take part in an optional placement or study abroad year.

In the final year students undertake a major project as well as a variety of competition and live external briefs. Students work towards building a highly creative and professionally credible portfolio ready to enter their chosen industry specialism. Students studying Illustration and Graphics have the opportunity to enter a broad range of creative fields and to support this choice they write dissertation, which investigates their chosen marketplace.

Ver similar course to the Loughborough University, which I really like, I will use it as second choise if I won't get a place in there. ot much to say, slightly weaker than Loughborough and with worse reptutaion, however I am going there to learn not to deal with reception people. However I would still prefere Loughorough Universty.

Loughborough University

I decided to choose Graphic Communication and Illustration course at Loughborough University because of the what course include and the optional benefits of the course. Since the beginning I was highly influenced by illustration and that’s how I started my interest in graphic design, but this is not the only reason why I would like to include this subject in my studies. I think that as a designer I not only must be creative (which illustration also helps with) but also be able to transfer the idea onto the paper or digital enviroment. It is very difficult and frustrating when you find it hard to do so. I would like to also include it because of the fact that we can create something by ourselves, we don’t need to look around to find every small element of the design online, we would simply do it.

However, I don’t want to simply focus on the illustration. I still would like to work in graphic design file as full time worker, therefore I must ensure that the university which I am going to is good in both of them, which I feel Loughborough is. I believe that the constant improvement of the university shows the passion and devotion to the teaching. I also think that the 4 years sandwich course will hugely help me with finding job after graduation.

In addition, a little bonus to all of that, was the fact of how they present themselves. When I look at the universities which represents himself as art universities on top of that with graphic design course, I pay attention to all small details like website. If I see a poorly designed website I already don’t feel comfortable with it - it’s as if they should their own skills and the level of the skills which they can offer to me. In this instance I thought it was just fine, the website was readable, information was easy to find, the colours worked good together and everything was neatly and smartly put together.

Norwich University

When I was looking at Graphic Design courses I was always quite disappointed with the fact everyone was mentioning typography as the main element of the course - I understand that it is a very important part of graphic design, but because it is so important it should be obvious. The fact that Norwich Graphic Design course included wide range of areas which will be covered, charmed me. I still am not sure of which path I should go, therefore I would still like to explore - I would also have as wide rage of jobs as I can as I like variety in my life. The university also has a good reputation, which is a plus.

The website was up to date, very modern and modern. The only minus would be the colours and the layout - the vivid colours quite hurted my eyes but it wasn’t the biggest problem. The most frustrating element was the layout which was quite hard to follow. However, I still think that the level of the design was good enough and I saw that they pay attention of how they are seen by students.

Coventry Universty

I choose this course because of the quite high ranking mark and the fact that it had a course which would include both graphics and illustration. I quite liked the material covered by the course - I thought it was like Loughborough but slightly weaker. That’s why I thought about it as a second choice university - in case that I won’t get a place at Loughborough I would consider going there.

If it comes to how they represent themself - I wasn’t impressed. The website was quite plain, I also couldn’t really find artworks created by the previous students which was quite a shame.

UAL University

I have no intention of going to these university - I would only consider UAL as it has very good reputation and has a lot of business connections, which would be a great element, however I cannot bring myself to like this university and the course which they offer. It is my backup plan in case that Loughborough, Norwich, Coventry wouldn’t offer me a place.

Reading University

To be honest the only reason why I applied to this university was the fact it was closest to my hometown - it was the worst scenario choice and probably at the end I would not attend this course. I don’t think they would provide me enough experience and benefits for £9,000 per year.

They would probably be slightly different as FCB Inferno is more of a advertising company cofucing on promotion whereas Eaglemoss is more of creative company where comics, figiurines, magazines and many more are created.

I really would like to be able to work in both, however I also understand that I would have to take specific course to have advantage in the future. The problem is that they are quite different - as I mentioned before one is purely graphic design the other one require illustration skills. Therefore I have quite a big dilema over Norwich Graphic Design course and Loughborough Graphic Communication and Illustration course.

I didn't really know what I was looking for so I was wondering around the interview and I came across this two girl talking about their experience of getting into Oxford and Cambridge. I know that its more academic and it's really high lever university, but it's better to know what can happen than jut say it's not going to happen.

It is their official video where they are talking about the most imporstant elements of the interview. It was quite helpful as I now know what to expect from them, that it won't surpries me on the day. I wrote down key elements:
Be on time and leave plenty of time to get to the building which you have interview in ( the campus is quite big)
Reread your personal statement
Bring your portfolio ( make sure your name is on it )

At the end it's almost the same process in every single university, however you need to keep in mind the course you are applying for - for example Norwich s more on graphic design whereas Loughbourough has illustration element to it, therefore it would be ince to say something about fine art or anything realted to the conent of the course. Make sure that you will showe them that you read what course you are applying for and you understand it. Even if they don't ask you directly you can still add it to your answer to show the awarness.
