I found great joy in the simplicity of the use of Funds of Knowledge. It makes sense. Using what is most important to someone to relate content to students lives (University of Washington, n.d).  Getting to use Aubrey's interests within our tutoring sessions was a very effective way of getting her engaged and making her feel special while learning.

Anything that we can use as teachers should be thought of as fair game. When hearing Dr. Macias say that text isn’t just books, but it is everything from the internet to text messages from friends, gave me a whole new perspective on how to view information. Information can and should be gained from multiple sources, perspectives, and mediums, this is how we reduce bias within our classrooms (Banks, 2014)

The PBL assignment was the first assignment I have ever had like it. I had no idea how to integrate PE, Science, and Math. It was an alien concept. After completing the project, I realize just how important cross-curricular and PBL assignments can be in terms of multicultural pedagogy. As teachers, we want to change school culture to be uplifting and celebrate the cultures and the assets that the students at the school have to offer (Banks, 2014). The more teachers and students can work together to change school culture for the better, the better off we will all be.
