The basic software used for video conferencing is "SKYPE" which is used to communication with each other. The development of video conferencing has been a huge step forward towards the field of TELECOMMUNICATION.

I think communication through satellite is better than communication through fibre optics cable as it requires no place on the earth and there is no need to spread them like fibre optics cables.

The information transport of digital signals in many steps need time. In a telecommunicated conversation, an increased time lag larger than about 150–300 ms becomes noticeable and is soon observed as unnatural and distracting. Therefore, next to a stable large bandwidth, a small total round trip time is major technical requirement for the communication channel for interactive video conferencing.
