This would used as an exit card activity which is an assessment as because the student and the teacher can both benefit from this activity. The student can benefit from an exit card because it shows that they know their positive and negative coping strategies. But this activity also allows the teacher to see what the students picked up during the lesson and what needs to be addressed next lesson. In order to continue in the unit, it is helpful to see where the student at.

A demonstration during physical education class, or simply practicing a new skill can be an assessment as. This would be as assessment as because the teacher could be starting a new sport unit in basketball and asking if students know how to pass the basketball. The students would then demonstrate how they pass a basketball so the teacher can see what skill level the students possess and give appropriate feedback to the students. This video helps show teachers who might not be good at basketball ideas of what they should be looking for. It is also super handy to use students within the class. If the class has an basketball players they are useful to use for the first demonstration so the rest of the students can see what and get an idea what they need to be doing.

Having a journal will allow the student to see how for they have come from the start of the semester and then the teacher can collect it at the end of the year to look at goals accomplished, hardships, barriers the student has overcome. When students have to write journals it is helpful as a teacher to ask the students questions or have a sentence started for them so that they have something to go off of. Otherwise, the topics may be to similar or the students might not complete the journal because they do not know what to talk about. It would be for a fitness class but if the students have anything else they need to add just because they need to write it down somewhere that would be fine, the students could fold pages down if they didn't want the teacher to see.

Students can give oral presentations to demonstrate their learning. It shows the student has master some kind of skill. During my placement I gave the students a mental health awareness assessment and part of it was to give an oral presentation. Having the students give an oral presentation shows that they have knowledge about a certain mental illness and can tell their classmates about it. It shows that the students have learned and can be grade on their final product. I put an example of an assignment I gave out to my grade 11 health class when I was on placement. It is their final project on this health unit instead a of test. The students had to do a presentation about one of these mental illness or addictions.

The student will put the topic in the middle and then draw on supporting ideas an this can show students what they know vs. what they need to learn still. So the students could use this in health class and use it to see how important nutrition is. Or if the students have to do another assignment this could be a step-stone for brainstorming ideas. The students could hand this into the teacher to make sure they were on the right track.

This is a super fast activity to figure out what students already know about a certain topic. For example, in health class a teacher might as about sexual contraception and the students can fist of five on how much they've already learned on the topic. This would fit under assessment as. This is helpful because it allows the teacher to quickly gauge where the students are, what they already know and what needs to be reviewed before going into new material.
