The Let's Talk Website has lots of resources that you can access at home to support your child's language and communication development.

Understanding, speaking and communicating are some of the most important skills your child will learn. It may seem that they happen naturally, but in fact parents have a very important role to play. The more you talk with your child and respond, the more you help them learn to communicate.

Admissions

We have 3 intakes through each academic year. There are intakes in August, January and April. Although we try to accommodate as many families as possible, we can not guarantee a place for your child, or your first choice placement.

We use the City of Edinburgh Council Admissions Criteria to assign placements.

For 3 - 5 year olds, we offer 3 models of attendance:

Term Time

Mon - Thurs 8.30am - 3pm

Fri - 8.30am-12.30pm

2 Day Placement

Monday/Tuesday or Wednesday/Thursday

8am - 6pm with additional Fridays

Morning/Afternoon sessions

AM - 8am - 12.35pm

PM - 12.55pm - 5.30pm

Terrific Two year olds will be offered either morning or an afternoon sessions.

Independence Skills

Frogston ELC is a busy environment and we encourage children to become independent. You can encourage independence at home too. Children can learn to put their shoes on, feed themselves, go to the toilet and do many other daily routines independently.

You can support your child to become independent at home by letting them do things for themselves.

We are always looking at ways for parents and carers to be part of their child's nursery learning. We continually try to find ways for parents and carers to be involved in the nursery day. Here are some ways you can get involved in the nursery day.

Peep

We run Peep sessions for families. These fun sessions give children and parents/carers the chance to spend time together in a relaxed environment, developing skills together.

These sessions are run by Tracey and Laura. You can speak to Tracey or Laura if you would be interested in attending.

Stay and Play

We have stay and play sessions throughout the year. This is a chance for you to come along to nursery with your child, they can show you around the nursery and play with you, showing you all the things they like to do at nursery.

Learning Journals

Staff at Frogston use learning journals to record your child's learning journey. Each child will have a Learning Journal account created which parents and carers can access. If you do not have your login details then please speak to a member of staff in the nursery office.
