Susan Bordo wrote about the the relationship between feminism and women's bodies, in her excerpt, "The Body And The Reproduction Of Femininity." In this exceprt she focuses closely on how the female body is created based off of societal norms. She claims that feminine interests in makeup, fashion, dieting, or plast surgery is not based off of personal desires, but the desire to fit into society. She continues to explain that the idea of femninity (skinny, delicate, girly, etc.) is created by society to push women into subjection.

Sandra Lee Bartky also wrote an excerpt in regards to feminism and the body called, "Focault, Femininity, And The Modernization of Patriarchial Power." Bartky speaks on the role of masculinity in creating the bodily sterortypes that affects women. She explains that women are trained to maintain specific feminine ideals throguh the use of grooming, make-up, and dieting. However, she added to the agruement that society causes this feminine pressure in women, but also patriarchic structures also contribute to these pressures. She even goes as far to say that even if the societla pressure vanished, woman would still continue to try to achieve "femininity" due to being conditioned by the patriarchy.
