These modified species are known as GMO’s, Genetically Modified Organisms.Charles Darwin sparked the genetic engineering idea due to his findings he published in 1859. He concluded that selective breeding had been successful in producing change over time.Selective breeding was practiced by the Romans and we quite successful at improving farming efficiency and production. In the 1970’s biologists from Stanford University figured out a way to move genes among different strains of bacteria. This caused a change in the way that crops and foods were going to be produced. He states the past infusion of GMOs, but that some fast food chains are actually chaining what consists of their product.
