In one of our recent classes, ma’am talked about how technology can be used to develop reading skills, and the discussion was very eye-opening for me. She introduced us to different tools such as Busuu, Diffit and Magic School, which are designed to make reading more interactive and enjoyable. I learned that these platforms not only provide reading passages but also include features like vocabulary support, comprehension questions, and even audio options that help improve pronunciation and understanding. Before this, I often found reading practice to be repetitive and sometimes boring. However, after exploring these apps, I realized how technology can create a more personalized and motivating environment for learners. For example, Busuu allows me to practice short texts daily and track my progress, while Magic School makes reading more creative and fun. This lesson benefited me greatly, as it inspired me to use technology to strengthen my reading skills more effectively.

It was our teacher who introduced us to various apps and websites like Kahoot.it, Grammarly, and Mentimeter, and these tools changed the way I practice language. Kahoot.it made learning vocabulary fun by turning it into a game, where I could compete and test my knowledge in a lively way. Grammarly became a personal guide, helping me correct grammar mistakes instantly and teaching me how to avoid repeating them. Mentimeter was also very engaging, as it allowed interactive quizzes and activities that built both my grammar awareness and vocabulary knowledge.

Through this lesson, I realized that grammar and vocabulary practice do not have to be monotonous. Technology made them exciting, interactive, and effective, giving me confidence and motivation to keep improving every day. Even I used these apps for my students as well.

Social media has become a powerful tool in English Language Teaching (ELT), and through our class discussions, I realized how much it is transforming modern learning. Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok are no longer only for entertainment. They offer authentic content, interactive discussions, and opportunities for real communication. Personally, I follow English learning pages, watch YouTube tutorials, and join Facebook groups to practice writing and receive feedback, which has improved my skills.

One special moment for me was when our ma’am showed one of my own videos, where I used Facebook as a medium of teaching English. I was truly overwhelmed and proud that my teacher used my video as an example of how social media can support ELT. This experience made me more confident and motivated to explore creative ways of teaching and learning through social platforms.

Learning about concordance and corpora in our class was a completely new experience for me, and it was truly great to know about these powerful tools in language learning and research. I discovered that concordance tools allow us to see how words and phrases are actually used in authentic contexts, while corpora provide huge collections of real language data. This opened my eyes to a more practical and research-based way of learning English. What fascinated me most was the idea that corpora and concordance are not only useful for learners but also for teachers, curriculum designers, and even publishers. They can design materials, analyze trends, and make teaching more accurate and effective. Knowing about this made me realize that there is a big market and future prospect in education for such tools, as technology-driven learning becomes more common worldwide.

I came to understand that it combines both face-to-face classroom teaching and online learning, creating a balance that can make education more flexible and effective. At first, I thought online learning alone was enough, but through this lesson I realized how important it is to mix both methods.

One thing I really liked about blended learning is that it allows students to learn at their own pace online, while still having direct interaction and guidance from teachers in class. For example, I can watch videos or practice exercises online and then come to class better prepared for discussion. This makes learning more engaging and interactive. I also realized that blended learning has a strong future in education, as it saves time, uses technology effectively, and supports different learning styles. Overall, it was an inspiring lesson that changed my perspective on modern education.

For example, points, badges, or challenges give students a sense of achievement while also encouraging collaboration and healthy rivalry. I understood that gamification has many pros such as boosting motivation, making lessons interactive, and improving problem-solving skills. I discovered how VR is already incorporated in many foreign countries, making lessons more immersive and practical. For example, students can experience historical events, explore scientific processes, or even practice complex tasks like surgery in a safe environment. Sadly, I also realized that our country is still lagging behind in adopting VR, mostly due to cost and lack of infrastructure. Yet, I believe that if VR is applied here, it could transform education by making the impossible possible, bringing abstract concepts to life and offering hands on practice without real-world risks. This lesson inspired me to see VR as a future tool that could make learning more engaging, innovative, and limitless.
