My family is Fuzhounese and is from Fujian and we speak a Fuzhounese dialect mostly at home. Typically when I use it, I only use it for short common words but I could never hold a conversation in it. My mom however tells me to learn Mandarin instead as Fuzhounese isn't used in the "real world".
