The course was demanding, yet in a great way. With a master and doctorate in education and being a Blackboard System Administrator, first I had already taken courses regarding this topic and secondly, the instructors needed a lot of help designing the course. I was mainly disappointed because the material wasn't really connected to DEI, but the instructors were very open to feedback.]]> 2020-02-19 17:07:21 UTC https://padlet.com/krisfed528/kyks2qfejuoc/wish/447544417 krisfed528 https://padlet.com/krisfed528/kyks2qfejuoc/wish/447548956 "When I evaluated a workshop that my department did on how to utilize the new attendance feature in Blackboard, I noticed that it was only delivered to kinesthetic or visual learners (if they had a class in Blackboard).  Originally, faculty were brought into our "innovation classroom," a Blackboard shell was brought up on the screen with fake students enrolled.  Faculty were given laptops to follow along.  Then the facilitator explained how to use the attendance feature.  I decided to change this for the read/write and visual and audio learners by creating a handout and a video walking them through the steps.  The handouts are now given out at the end of the workshop and those in attendance are shown where the supplemental video is on our CTIE website.  I have attached the handout and video I created."]]> 2020-02-19 17:13:04 UTC https://padlet.com/krisfed528/kyks2qfejuoc/wish/447548956 krisfed528 https://padlet.com/krisfed528/kyks2qfejuoc/wish/447549575 "In my role, I teach my faculty how to use many of these gaming technologies like Pear Deck, Jamboard, Poll Everywhere, Prezis, Powtoon, Doodle Poll, Kahoot, Venngage, and Quizlet just to name a few.  So far Pear Deck is my favorite because it enables instructors to put informal assessments in their Google Slide presentations and the responses show up anonymously in class, which is important when explaining a concept in order to garnish honesty and avoid students feeling embarrassed.  Pear Deck can also be set to "student paced" so that the learner may do it themselves as homework.  This is the presentation set to homework mode. Dr. Malmberg didn't realize she would have people other than instructors in her course, so she gave me a lot of flexibility on how I tackled the paper prompts so I could get more out of it. She was very communicative and supplied readings that evoked a lot of emotion from me, rather than nothing at all.
