Prejudice: refers to the beliefs, thoughts, feelings, and attitudes someone holds about a group. A prejudice is not based on experience; instead, it is a prejudgment, originating outside actual experience.

Racism: is a stronger type of prejudice used to justify the belief that one racial category is somehow superior or inferior to others; it is also a set of practices used by a racial majority to disadvantage a racial minority.
Discrimination: consists of actions against a group of people. Discrimination can be based on age, religion, health, and other indicators; race-based laws against discrimination strive to address this set of social problems.
Stereotypes: are oversimplified generalizations about groups of people. Stereotypes can be based on race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation—almost any characteristic.
Colorism: is another kind of prejudice, in which someone believes one type of skin tone is superior or inferior to another within a racial group.

Which of the terms above do you think this is an example of? Explain...

Discrimination because they agent was choosing to not allow any other race except Caucasian live in the available house.
2. Do you believe you have ever stereotyped someone (or treated them differently) by his or her accent or speech pattern? If so, how?

Yes, I have, it is hard to know when someone has an accent, I often assume that they might not understand what I am saying.
3. Is judging someone based on his or her accent or speech pattern different from judging that person based on his or her appearance?
I think it comes from a similar mindset, however a person who discriminates on accent might not discriminate against skin color. Colorism focuses more on how a person appears, and some people could "pass" as white.
4. Can you think of examples of this that you have seen or experienced?
Yes, a lot of times when I tell people I am half-Vietnamese, they automatically assume I come from a very traditional Asian household and assume I can speak Vietnamese. However my parents both grew up in the US and my family is American.

In the video, the white boy, and white girl were not stopped when trying to steal a bike. For the boy some stopped by to ask him what he was doing, but even after he said he was stealing it, the spectators didn't do anything. For the girl, no one questioned why she was stealing, but instead asked if she needed help. For the young black boy, as soon as he started to cut the chains off the bike, people questioned him, and yelled at him, even called he police. Even though all these people were doing the same exact thing, at the same spot, the reactions of the people were different based on the actors appearances.

Unlike the racism perpetrated by individuals, institutional racism, also referred to as systemic racism, has the power to negatively affect the bulk of people belonging to a racial group. Institutional racism can be seen in areas of wealth and income, criminal justice, employment, health care, housing, education, and politics, among others.

Laws in the 1700s and 1800s mainly focused on giving white people the opportunity to own land and gain citizenship, excluding people of color. Even in the 1900s targeted to promote the wealth of white people because of their opportunities they were provided in the past. One law that stood out to me was 1944 GI Bill of Rights which provided housing, jobs, and healthcare for veterans however, because mainly people of color were not allowed to serve in the military or were given low roles within the military. It was a government using their power to discriminate against black people which continues overtime as a result of past laws.
