Germany takes a move on Paris in June 1940, although french leaders saw that Germans were taking control of the regions. so they decided to make an armistice that divided France into 2 regions. Despite the German victory the French resistance fighters did what they could to prevent the Nazis as the war progressed

The Nazis Target Great Britain

Once the Nazis took over most of the western Europe they moved to Great Britain. The Battle of Britain was primarily in the air, but bombs damaged many british cities, parents even sent their kids away to safety, but sadly the children never got to see there parents again.

Leaders such as Tojo Hideki & Hirohito wanted to seek out and conquer new land and build an empire. To start this process they turned their attention to China, because of resources and land. Japan invaded the Chinese province of Manchuria and made it an independent Japanese state. China turned to the leagues of Nations for help, and the League demanded that Japan withdraw its troops, Japan refused to withdraw from the league.

Japan fights United States

In December 1937, Japanese warplanes sank the U.S gunboats on China's Yangtze River, killing 3 Americans and wounding nearly 30. Roosevelt condemned the attack, but Japan apologized and the two nations settled the matter peacefully. But Japan continued to expand its empire, Japanese forces annexed European colonies in Southwest Asia and the Western Pacific. The United States responded by pulling back on trade/resources.

On September 1940, Japan signed a war agreement with Germany and Italy, forming the Axis powers. They agreed to assist one another if any one of them were attacked by a nation not already involved in the war. Roosevelt retaliated by freezing all Japanese assets in the United States and blocking shipments of scrap iron and aviation fuel to Japan.
