It is important to study history, so we can use our past to help us in the future, and it’s good to know things about your past because it helps to not repeat mistakes, and it's cool to be able to see past opinions for future debates ad arguments.

we study history to learn about the past and how cool things were or not cool. I also think its neat to see how we've evolved through out the years -Abby

It is interesting to see the connections between the past and the present.

history helped the military learn from mistakes in the past (i.e the US entering the Vietnam war :P )

We study history because it can be helpful to know how, when, and where everything started, and who started what. Also, it's helpful so we can learn about the mistakes a bunch of people made in the past (a long, long time in the past) and we know what not to do so we don't make those same mistakes. Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it, right? Is that a saying? I think I heard it a long time ago in an episode of Nicky, Ricky, Dicky and Dawn, but it still makes sense and is a good point to make... so... yeah.
