The concept of arming people with the problem constantly perpetuates this. You can't deter violence with more weapons, it just wouldn't work. A clever or stronger adversary could get the gun, OR a disgruntled teacher. Sure the odds are in the favor of the teachers if these are not the case but it just promotes more issues. Teachers are here not to harm but to teach. We have law enforcement to stop situations like this. Whats a handgun going to do to a Assault Rifle? Violence breeds violence and the best way to prevent these issues is to help not hurt, you can't save everybody and arming the teachers will just create more problems.

This is because it really isn't necessary. We could just always have 2 or 3 cops on school grounds. So if it was needed the cops could take care of the issue. For example a teacher could end up getting in a divorce and having no will to live and they could decide to take out their anger on all of the students. Teachers are humans too, so they are subject to emotions, including negative ones like anger, fear, sadness, and loss of hope. The school should be protected enough to not have to millitarize the staff at a school. There is also the fact that someone else could steal the firearm and cause a significant tragedy. We could use trigger locks to prevent this, but the time it would take to get the lock off before a dangerous person came through the door could render it too late. Also coupling this with the fact that this would also be an extremely stressful and intense situation, and there is infinite room for fatal mistakes. This would help combat the school shooting problem the United States has been experiencing for years. In 2018 there were a total of 37 school shootings in the United States. The most well known of these was the Stoneman Douglas High School Shooting, which saw the death of 17 people and another 17 injured. In the aftermath of the shooting students protested for better gun regulations, and had success. Now more than a year later in the same state as the shooting happened a bill has almost passed that would let teachers carry guns in schools. The same regulations that were passed in the Parkland shooting bill will be in affect for this bill. The Yahoo article states, “the new legislation would permit teachers to report to school armed — but only after they’ve passed a psychological test and had at least 144 hours of training at a sheriff’s office”. So not anyone would be able to carry a gun in school, and if the time comes the person with the gun would be able to take down the aggressor.
