Everyone in the family has ideas on what to do with the money, but no one is agreeing. Ruth(wife of Walter) falls unexpectedly.

Act 1 scene 2

Beneatha(Sister to Walter) argues with Walter(husband to Ruth) about her ambitions to become a doctor. Mama talks about how she is worried that Ruth is going to have an abortion.She also mentions her dream to buy a house.

Act 2 scene 1

The whole family discusses what they want to do with the money again and it turns into an argument. Mama unveils that she made a payment to a house in a all white neighborhood.

Act 2 scene 2

Ruth is happy about the new house and decides to keep her baby. Mr. Lindner visits them and attempts to buy back their new house (to prevent integration). They decline this offer.

Act 2 scene 3

A friend of Walters arrives at the house to tell the family that Walter's business partner has run away with the investment money and Beanetha's school funds. They all become very sad and begin to lose all hope.

Act 3 only one scene

Beneatha does not believe she will ever become a doctor. Walter is considering taking Mr. Lindners money for the house. Lindners arrives again to buy the house but Walter refuses the offer. The play ends with the family moving out of their house.
