The 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights included contributions from more than 50 UN Member States.
This was the first attempt to outline the fundamental freedoms and rights that all people are entitled to on a worldwide scale. As seen in article 1 it states " All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood. (Moeckli et al) Article 2's prohibition on discrimination serves as the foundation for this equality. All international human rights law is based on the principle of nondiscrimination. All significant international human rights treaties include this premise. The International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women both include this as its fundamental focus.
