         <title>What were the economic, political, and social conditions that gave rise to the French Revolution?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The people were seperated into three groups: clergy, nobility and everybody else. The taxes were high for the people in that third estate, they had to do military service and they didn't have a voice in government. Other reasons were that the king was weak and the government was in debt because they helped defeat british armies in the Americas.&nbsp;Also when Louis XVI became king the governement was already in debt. There was also famine in the farming grounds so they didnt have enough food for everyone. This caused the prices of bread to go up and caused a riot.</div>]]></description>

In the American Revolution, the people handled there problem more peacefully. In contrast of the French Revolution, a lot more blood was spilled and more events occured during the revolution.</div>]]></description>

It stated that men are born and remain free and equal rights, it is the governements job to protect the people's natural rights: liberty, property, security and resistance to oppression, if its not allowed by the law people can not be arrested, accused or imprisoned, people can be held innocent until proven guilty and people are given freedom of speech including religious views.</div>]]></description>

During this time, about 40,000 people were executed. They used a sharp angled blade that dropped on a guided track to cut the people's head off. It lasted a year and people who were guillotined were King Louis XVI, Mary Antoinette and Maximillione Robespierre. </div>]]></description>

The Napoleanic Code was a new set of laws that were the same for the people who were free.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The revolution in 1830 happened after King Louis XVIII died and his brother, Charles X, rose to power. He estsablished a French Constitution and this made the people angy. In the streets of France the people and the military fought. In the end the people won and drove him out. The revolution of 1848  happened bcause the people were displeaced by the way the country was being run by King Louis Philippe. The people raged and once again started a fight and the people came out on top. The king fled to England and in France they set up a republic. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Social Contract:&nbsp;It was written by Rousseau. It is an agreement with the members of society that will benefit the society. <br>John Locke: He was an Enlightenment philosopher and believed that people had an ability to govern themselves and also believed that men were born free and equal with natural rights: life, liberty and property. <br>Great Fear: This was a period of panic and riot by peasants. <br>Three Estates: They were the people of France that were seperated in three goups. First Estate was the clergy, second estate was the nobility and the third estate were everyone else. <br>Old Regime: There was an unfair tax system, there was no equality and there was an absolute monarch.<br>King Louis XVI: He was a weak leader and he wasnt interested in becoming king. <br>Natural Rights: John Locke started the idea of natural rights. He believed people were born equal and had natural rights: life, liberty and property. <br>Tennis Court Oath: It was a pledge made by the National Assembly. They pledged to continue meeting until they have written a new constition.</div>]]></description>
