An area of focus for this project relating to your classroom and student population:

The area of focus for this project will be:

What types of note taking formats are most beneficial for students?

a.	Copying entire notes on regular paper from a PowerPoint lecture.

b.	Giving students pre-printed notes from my PowerPoint-students would not have to write anything at all.

c.	Having students fill in some blanks on a note sheet provided from a PowerPoint lecture.

I teach biology in high school. The majority of my students are in the tenth grade, with some other older students who failed this course previously, and also some younger freshmen, if they are on a more advanced track. Typically the students in my class are not highly advanced, nor do they require special education. This normative grouping of students will help me to achieve the most accurate data.

In order to collect data, I will give all students a pre-test on the units during the semester. I will then give them post-tests and analyze which group of students (hand-written notes, no notes, or guided notes) had the largest improvement from pre-test to post-test. I will see if there is any correlation between these groups throughout the semester.
