The murder of man occurs while the train is blocked by snow, so the investigator deduces that the murder is one of the travelers. So Poirot begins a long series of interrogations to all passengers and, between contradictions and various lapses, he discovers that each of them was connected to the family of little Daisy.

Thanks to his brilliant reasoning, Poirot finally manages to solve the case. It was not just a murderer, but twelve people involved in the murder. Every passenger of the train, rancorous against Cassetti for the crimes he had been guilty of in the past, had daggered the victim.
