Rat’s type of story telling reminded me of yellow journalism we discussed in history class, a type of reporting that is still happening.

How is sensationalism used throughout our daily life, in places such as media and politics, and is it more of a positive or a negative?

"A while later, when we moved out of the hamlet, she was still dancing. 'Probably some weird ritual,' Azar said, but Henry Dobbins looked back and said no, the girl just liked to dance." (130).

In this quote, a lot of the differences between the subjects of the story and the “enemy”. At this point in the story, her family had been killed, and her village was burned, but she was still dancing. The soldiers questioning this shows how little they know about their enemy, and may even make the reader question who is really in the right.
