Eventually he lost a lot of weight due to starvation, and was beaten often. His grandparents called 911 went they found Jeffery was not breathing. Jeffery died at age five. Her mother has had a history with abusing drugs and using then during pregnancy. Neighbors have reported abuse before from the woman but fell through the cracks.Nadine was found staved to death and in a covered crib. She died at the age of four. The system designed to help Nadine failed her. This tactic has not been very successful because they are in one location not in the places that these children are going They are not in our schools they are not in churches or clubs that these kids go to escape. I propose we have a team of people with either experience of abuse and education in identifying and dealing with the subject in every school, every church, every hang out group locations. When kids are not in a happy home they rarely want to be there so they don't go home they stay at school and where there friends are. We need to have a bimonthly evaluation and checkup on our students in all grade levels. During these sessions the students get one on one with someone keeping a detailed file on what they see in the student and what the student has said to them. If the student shows any signs verbal or physical they will get monthly then biweekly sessions. If then obvious they turn to authorities to fix the situation with force. No bruise overlooked and over react often.
