This is how digital evidence is ensured to stay valid and unable to get tampered with.

He sent a reminder on his phone on the day July 7th titled "Barn smell check"

The day before Laura dissapeared he purchased a gun

He had a screenshot on his phone of the answer to the question "what temperature is cremation done at?"

They find shell casing,  gunpowder residue, and finger prints belonging to Dellen

They find blood evidence and signs of clean up in the truck

Day's after this Bosma's case was solved, the police got a call about how Millrad's name seemed very familiar to Laura's ex boyfriend, Scott. The reason was because after Laura went missing, Scott went through Laura's phone records, and the last 8 calls she ever made were to Dellen Millard, who she had dated for a couple of weeks, while she was with Scott. Since so many people are dependent on technology, it has been a lot easier to find evidence to convict criminals.
