Practice identifying fake news and explaining your reasoning using logical connectors. Choose headline you think is fake. Then, in the chat box (or breakout rooms), students must explain their choice using at least 3 logical connectors such as:

• First (to introduce their first reason)

• However (to show contrast)

• As a result (to explain the effect of believing fake news)

Example:

“New study shows eating only candy makes you live longer.” (fake)
“First, the idea that candy helps you live longer does not sound scientific. However, drinking water improving brain function seems more logical. As a result, I think the candy headline is fake.”
