In trait theories, it was thought that leaders' success can be guaranteed when them acquire a list of most important leadership traits (Daft, 2015, p. 17)</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; &nbsp;My second leadership goal is to learn the way to successfully manage/lead a multicultural/diverse group.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; As we all know, with the rapid progress with globalization, the workforce is becoming more and more diverse in the sense of a multicultural group. Therefore, I think managing a multicultural/ diverse group is a great leadership skill for current and future generation leaders.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The reason why I choose this to be my second leadership goal is my personal experience. As an international student in Canada, I often come across with other teammates from other culture background and work together as a team. However, sometimes I would find it challenging and difficult to lead in such diverse group.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; I believe that learning the key factors to help me manage a diverse/multicultural workforce can be very helpful for future generation leaders like me.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Action strategies For Goal No.1</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The First step for goal no.1 is to find out what are the leadership qualities that I am lacking.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In order to find out, the best way is not to reflect my leadership quality on my own but to ask other people who have worked with me or who are familiar with my leadership qualities.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The plan is to conduct a private one on one interview session with the interviewee selected focusing on the topic of their opinion on my leadership qualities. For instance, I will invite one of my former study group member to join me for a short 10-min interview about what are the most important leadership traits he/she thinks that I would put on the top of my list to acquire.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Once gathered information from my interviewees, I will carefully analyze the importance of leadership traits and the impact it could have on my leadership effectiveness.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; In this action strategies plan section, I will use patience as my most lacking leadership quality as an example since I was inspired by the video on the right-hand side.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Next, the most important step is to set up specific plan to acquire the leadership trait. In the case of being patient, I will be paying more attention to the moments at work or school when I am not patient with my followers and the negative impact it has on my leadership approach. Also, a detailed diary of my leadership journey can be a great help for acquiring a new leadership quality. By using it to document my leadership, I will be able to remind myself of being patient with dealing with my followers and make them feel that I have great patience for them.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Last but not least, an evaluation process is essential for me to verify the outcome of my action plan. For instance, I can ask for co-workers' feedback to see whether they've noticed any positive changes in my leadership style.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The goal can be considered as completed if positive feedback is collected from the qualified group.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Action strategies For Goal No.2</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; &nbsp; Multicultural leadership skills can't be acquired within a short period of time as it takes a lot of professional knowledge about different cultural background and the most effective leadership approach accordingly.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; Therefore, for the action strategies of multicultural leadership skill, I will set up a long-term action plan to help guide myself towards the goal of improving my multicultural leadership skills.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp;First, I'll have to be more aware of the cultural differences between different cultures and the impact on leadership development. Doing research on different cultures and their characteristics will be helpful for me to understand better the cultural differences. According to Hallmark executives, new generation leaders need to learn how to see things from different perspectives in order to lead a diverse group (Daft, 2015, p.121).&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; Secondly, I will take advantage of the intercultural values in most Canadian companies. It will also be very helpful to talk with some of the top management members here in Canada. I will be making conversations with these multicultural leaders to learn from their experiences and examples.<br>&nbsp;Lastly, in order to testify my leadership skills, I will conduct some evaluations with my followers from other cultural backgrounds and find out whether they find my leadership styles to be more effective or not.</div>]]></description>
