It is sad but true that 61% of low-income children are growing up in homes without books. And that is in AMERICA! This is an injustice that needs to be addressed and can be fixed easily if people get involved.

I would like to see the change of standardized testing. Students are put under extreme pressure to do well on these tests. These tests themselves are very long and take lots of time that could be used for learning. Teachers try to teach what they know will be on these tests, instead of what will be helpful for the students. There is extra pressure to do well because of societal pressure; you have to go to college and get a great job. Yes, I do think you should go to college, but I think the amount of pressure kids have is causing issues, including anxiety and depression.

Voting shouldn't be online. People worry about votes being hacked and changed, when online voting makes this issue a lot more likely. While America has many good cyber deference systems, there's always the possibility of being hacked. This could be by another country, or even one of our own citizens. When voting is online, the votes could be hacked, so in person voting is the safer and more secure option.

In America, healthcare can often be very expensive, and can leave people in dept that can take years to recover from. Such cruelty doesn't only effect its victims, but also society. Unfortunately, some people don't see the danger of their actions and don't seem to realize that in the end, we're all the same, we're all humans. People should learn to judge by character, not by appearance. As more and more people from different races are coming to the U.S as well as starting a life here, we must change the way the are treated. America is known as the country for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but racial comments and actions don't support that. America includes everyone, all races as one.

In a country like America, the amount of homeless people that can not seek help from others or get a job is appalling. America is known for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but how can one live by this motto when they are unfortunate and can't live in the proper circumstances hoping that it won't rain today as they do not have a safe shelter to stay in. On any given night there is an estimated amount of 550,000 people in America that are homeless. Although this is an extremely large number to deal with, American citizens should find the good in their hearts to help these in need and create this happiness for all.

Recently people and corporations everywhere feel the need to put their opinion into everything. An example of this is:
Fact: Football is a male dominated sport because of the genetic makeup of a man. Overall, the male body is physically stronger and more suited for a physical sport like football than a female's body. Yes, it is possible for a female to play football, but unless they are a genetic freak they will almost never play as well as a man.
Many people and corporations feel the need to say this is sexist or mysoginistic just to be politically correct. Why would we bring politics into football? This is something that we should address because more and more events, lives, and moments can be ruined by the politicization of everything.

Most people take older foods and throw them out even if there still good. This is becuase they see an expiration date. Furthermore many are buying more food then what is actually needed. This then leads to a lot of waste. If we continue to do this then in the upcoming years there will not be enough food left.In addition if a change doesnt start now we will continue to waste food. Why should we care? Well as the population increases the demand for more food is going to increase. We must then be able to have food or the country will be in great danger.

Besides choosing the wrong job for you or obnoxious coworkers, job burnout can be a big contributor to people not enjoying their work. Job burnout is when a person faces so much stress due to work that they can become physically and emotionally exhausted in, and even out of the workplace. In addition to being less productive job burnout can cause a reduced sense of accomplishment and a loss of personal identity because of the stress overload. A study conducted two years ago revealed that 23% of people felt job burnout on nearly a daily basis, and 44% felt it at least sometimes. To cut a long story short, over 23% are being robbed of the ability to do something so simple as enjoying their job.

All around the world are millions of women who don't feel equal when in a working environment. So many women around the world have been successful CEO's, activists, actors, singers. They do just as good as men, so why should they deserve any less. Hollywood’s gender pay gap revealed: male stars earn $1m more per film than women. This is a serious issue and needs to be taken seriously. Imagine you worked super hard for a job you wanted and got $200. Then you tell your male co-worker the amazing news and he tells you he made $1,000,200 for the same job. Shocking right? Not to female stars in Hollywood, it's an everyday thing for them. The FIA finds that 63.8% of women in the performance industry and 51.2% of men have a career that lasts between 11 and 15 years. This difference of 12.6% depicts the number of women who have ended their careers earlier than their male counterparts. This means women are ending their amazing careers early that they have worked hard for but have to quit because of unequal pay. This serious issue needs to be taken into account and make known around the globe.

Around America, plastic is being thrown out to pollute our country and our world. Shockingly, only 25% of this plastic is recycled. The most prominent factor in climate change is energy, which makes up 60% of greenhouse gas emissions. Recycling paper saves 17 trees, and recycling just one ton, saves 2,581 liters of oil, 26,498 liters of water and 2.5 liters of landfill space. What's the importance of all this? Well, with the rate our Earth is changing due to the actions of humanity, people need to start taking notice of what is happening around us. The information provided is only a small, small bit of the truth and if we set out to change and improve it, the world would be all the better for it. Imagine if people began to incorporate being sustainable in their daily lives.

So many of us believe that leading sustainable lives is too difficult and that they aren't able to change their lifestyle to accommodate more sustainable choices. However, the fact is, you don't need to spend tons of money and time to lead a more environmentally-friendly and sustainable life. It's all about living smarter. During the warm seasons, grow your food! Not only is it sustainable, but it's also a reason to get you out of the house and investing more time in your garden, and I guarantee, will taste notably better than produce from your store. Buy your products responsibly! With the rising interest in protecting our planet, now so many brands are beginning to use responsibly sourced materials, recycled plastics or begin donating towards charities helping the planet. Even if one is unable to do these, simply avoiding wasting water while washing your hands, wearing a sweater instead of turning on the heater or using energy-efficient light bulbs helps towards living a sustainable life. On the other hand, if people continue to stay ignorant towards this, no progress will be made, it will only get worse. We need to stick up for the planet we inhabit, or else we will all be facing a grim future.

Because the town is not financial secure, the level of education available to those of the town is limited. This leads to the illegal crime of stealing ones education. In more basic terms stealing and education is when a parent fakes an address of a resident so that their child has the opportunity to get into a better school. This is a problem because for the residents of that town attending the school, may not get that education because there is a student that has taken their place that doesn't live in the town. Parents have been sentenced to half of a year to a year and more due to these risky acts. Food insecurity or lack of available resources for food, has had many negative effects on the country. One of which being that the government has felt the need to lower the amount of food rations per day to only 11 ounces. This issue is truly significant because people especially children, are malnourished and suffer from serious health problems. If the problem consists, North Korean children won't have the necessary energy provided by the nutrients in food to reach their full abilities and accomplish all their goals. After learning more about this issue, I realized how lucky I am to be living in a food secure area where I don’t have to worry about starving. Food is a right and not a privilege.

Trees aren't only the home to many species of wildlife, they also provide food, and are also our air supply. Deforestation is happening in all different parts of the world, stripping animals and wildlife from their homes, killing living things, and sucking away our oxygen supply and carbon dioxide storage. This should be changed. Deforestation needs to lessen dramatically. While sometimes burning a forest or certain part of one can restore the immediate ecosystem, it's also being done all too often and at too large a rate, and includes chopping down trees at an alarming rate. Chopping down trees isn't a good thing. This is very alarming to see how much life deforestation has killed, and all for the sake of a human business. Deforestation must stop if we as humans are to save species and retain our oxygen/carbon dioxide balance.

In areas of conflict, food is starting to become less accessible for people living there. Increased food prices means its harder for people to meet their other needs if they want to get enough food to support themselves. People need to have accessible food, and if they don't it can make it impossible to work or afford a place to live. If areas in crises continue to loose funding and resources for accessible food, people wont be able to meet their needs.

How can we allow these people to have so much power over others lives? Social platforms are a way to voice your opinion without being censored. So why are companies like Google, Facebook, and Instagram demonizing and demonetizing people with different opinions or people that call them out for their lies. It should not matter what you believe, you should at least be aloud to say it. If that belief is one that people don't agree with then we should debate them and have open conversation to prove them wrong. In my opinion, a good cliche to live by is "agree to disagree".

When it comes to the issue of legalizing Marijana, I strongly believe that things should not change and restrictions should be kept in place. The negative side effects are typically downplayed when people are explaining why Marijana should be legalized, however it’s important to really understand them. Marijana is highly addictive and can cause impaired memory, damage to the brain, birth defects, strokes, and an increased risk of heart attacks. By legalizing Marijana, these symptoms would increase immensely because the number of people dependent on it would increase as well. Recent data shows that this substance can lead to Schizophrenia and other forms of psychoses that can take control of a person’s life and send them to a mental institution. Some may say that the legalization of Marijana supports freedom and the freedom to make our own choices; however, people under the influence of it can’t control themselves or their decisions. In 12% of all motor vehicle accidents where the driver was killed, Marijana played a leading role. Ultimately, if Marijana is legalized in all states, the United States will face a crisis more severe than selling Marijana illegally.

To send one child to school for one year costs a little more than $10,000 on average among the fifty states of America. However, this number of $10,000 is no accurate representation for the variations across these fifty states. Utah, the state spending the least on schooling, spends a little more $6,500 per child per year, while New York, the state spending the most, spends about $20,600 per child per year. Unfortunately, 'the more kids the more money spent' doesn't work here. Emphasis on the per child. Even then, population wouldn't be an excuse of Utah spending not much over half of the average and New York spending more than double, what with NY only being the 4th most populated state, and Utah only the 31st. This gap in money paid to school each individual child does in fact affect the quality of education. The more money, the higher the test scores and graduation rates. Children in states such as Utah are automatically set for less of a chance for success than those in states likes New York.

There are many successful highschool and college dropouts, but you have to have a plan and support it all the way. This is only for getting a job. Some people don't have this choice.

Over half a million abortions take place annually in the U.S. One out of ten women will have an abortion before the age of 20, while one out of four will have an abortion before the age of 30. We are constantly hearing this "word" of abortion, but most people aren't aware of what it truly is. Abortion is when a pregnant female decides to kill their baby because of whatever reasoning they may have. Agreeing to abortion means that you are allowing to take away the life of a human being and all their future potential. The restrictions on abortions are being threatened by new policies legalizing abortion. Many will argue that it is not wrong to kill off the fetus because it isn't a human being yet, but from the time of conception the fetus is a human being. These fetuses will never have the chance to create memories, be their best, and make their mark on the world. American citizens are worried about gun violence and deaths leading from weapons, when the true problems are our choices of abortion. There are approximately 40,000 firearm incidents annually each year. This is only 12.5% of the amount of deaths that happen because of abortion. If citizens raise the right awareness maybe just maybe we could still have a chance in saving these poor children that don't have a say in life.

Recently, in the chilly months of winter we have experienced an unexpected peek of warmer temperatures. This whimsy weather is caused by the recent discovery of climate change. Scientist have come to the conclusion that the increase in greenhouse gases used on daily basis have caused the earth to warm. It is extremely clear that this has a negative impact on our environment because many changes have been observed globally. Including glaciers melting, snow coverage decreasing, oceans are warming, there are shrinking ice sheets, and etc. In addition, it is also predicted that sea levels will rise another 1-4 feet by 2100. In just riding a bike to school, this will help decrease the amount of greenhouse gases emitted into the air, preventing further damage to our environment. It is essential that we put a stop to climate change so it does not eat up our world piece by piece.

Our country already struggles with acts of violence constantly, and we are becoming numb to how horrific it is. Obviously, an argument can be made that some should be able to own a gun to protect themselves and their family, but students go through more testing to receive a good college education, then those who are buying tools with the capability to kill are. Doesn't that seem wrong? Those owning guns should be put through tests and evaluations, the same way people are for schools or jobs. In doing so, we can hope that guns don't fall into the wrong hands any longer, or at the very least we can decrease the amount of damage spread across America through them.
