But civilians have to phone 999 and risk being caught by whoever is harassing them. So, with the touch of a button (or with sound recognition that uses a codeword in case of an assault or rape scenario) your GPS signal will be tracked and the authorities will come straight to your location. It will also automatically record both front facing and main cameras as well as audio for evidence. If the phone is destroyed whilst emitting the signal, it will track where the phone was last online.

It can also notify other people who have the app within a 500 yard radius if you are in trouble and will be could be able to provide assistance or as a witness.

If you believe you are in danger, you can press a button that sets a timer on the app and if you don't turn it off when the time runs out, the emergency services will come to you immediately. You also have the option of continuing the timer if you still believe you are in danger.

Those who abuse the app will be heavily fined and prosecuted for wasting police time etc.

Afterwards, you go straight to a setting menu to set up how you will trigger the alarm. You will be allowed multiple ways to trigger the alarm.

You can have a separate passcode from your normal passcode that you use to log into your phone, but this separate passcode activates the silent alarm without looking suspicious; it just looks like you are logging into your phone. This will trigger a signal of your GPS that will emit to a local police station operator, and also any nearby officers. It will also alert everyone else using the app within a 150 yard radius of the user to the danger that is occurring.

They can also trigger the alarm by setting an option to press the lock button on their phones a certain number of times to trigger the alarm. This is for situations when the person is being assaulted and does not have the time or becomes too shocked to type anything into a phone and so they can mash the lock button to trigger the alarm.

For those who believe they are in danger, but are not 100% confident in that they believe they will be physically assaulted, they can set a timer on the app which will last for however long the person decides the timer will count down from and once the timer is up, it will send a notification to the user to either continue the timer or decline the request for another timer if you still feel unsafe. If you do not answer the reminder, then the alarm will trigger.

This is a concern because we are in an age where government agencies are conducting mass-surveillance on their citizens and the only way for this app to truly function 100% is to co-operate with the police and by extension, the state. There is a concern that anyone could be recorded at any time with just the push of the button and the app users would be spied on.

So to combat this, the app will include data encryption. Snapchat is an app where you can record video along with sound that last for up to 10 seconds. The app also has data encryption so that the data of the users is protected. The only time you will be recorded is when the alarm is triggered by the user. This includes GPS signal.
