"The next day was broiling, almost the last, certainly the warmest, of the summer." (Fitzgerald, 121). That quote foreshadows the fight between Tom and Gatsby. "An hour later the green light was fading and the sun was rising. The valley of ashes on the other side of the river was getting ready to be seen" (Fitzgerald 184). In the story, weather is used to reverence mood and how people feel about one another. It also used to foreshadow events. It's meaning is different depending on what the weather is like. If it is hot, it means that tensions are rising and if it is raining it means that something sad is going to happen. When it was hot and they all went to the city, they ended up all fighting and arguing about Daisy. It was rainy and cold outside when Daisy went to Gatsby's house and she ended up crying. The weather changes throughout the book just like the characters feelings.
