It is important to define any concept before delving into the details of said concept. Unit one opened with definitions of research and more specifically “business research”. The importance of business research and reasons for conducting research were examined. Great details were provided into explaining the types of business research. I felt that descriptive and causal research shared a similarity as they both addressed the question of “why” as it related to study questions.

The second session of the unit focused on research methods and I found this area a bit challenging. I had to review the philosophies several times to grasp the concepts and differentiate them correctly. In order to comprehend the philosophies better I viewed additional videos about the topic.

I found the last session “Issues in Research” compelling as it spoke to the consequences that can be realized when research is performed unethically. It brought to mind real life examples of companies who were reprimanded for concealing research that discovered firms’ products to be hazardous or defective.
