If student are familiar with data collection and the presentation of data then they can go straight into infographics otherwise spend some time covering the concepts and terms involved with data collection and presentation.
The availability of BYOD,tablets, or computers will determine whether this can be done as groups or as individuals.
Important to spend some time explaining or reinforcing cyber security and intellectual property rules.
Consider, if haven't already, setting up a classroom wiki at wikispaces or on google sites. Thus it is important for students to have an understanding of what is required in order to create an infographic. Through the process an understanding of how to read an infographic effectively is also gained. In the age of big data creating and understanding infographics will be an essential skill. Other skills learnt through the teaching infographics are visualization, persuasive writing, storytelling, effective communication, collaboration, and creativity.
Infographics can be an extremely enjoyable tool to create. Allow students to pick topics that they enjoy; sports, video games, tv/movies/books, even politics.
