The Dissenting Opinion  was that the University of California believed that they were not implementing racial quotas and they disagreed with the ruling.   • Following the Supreme Court of California’s ruling, the Regents of the University of California filed a writ of certiorari to the Supreme Court, focusing on the constitutionality of Davis Medical School’s special admissions program under the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.The Supreme Court granted certiorari upon the validity of the special admissions program under the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. As a result of the Supreme Court’s decision to grant certiorari, the Supreme Court of California’s order to grant Allan Bakke’s injunction was pending the Supreme Court’s ruling on the constitutionality of Davis Medical School’s special admissions program. The Regents of the University of California failed to state a claim upon which relief could be granted.
