Make the outer parts, back sides and base from the thicker 12mm materials cut the main shelf after and fit it in, then add the other pieces made from the thinner MDF - Make a drawing to show this

Use the thicker material for the outside frame, dont make it too large. Fit the shelves in after the outer frame is complete.
Work on the decoration for your shelves, dont start making until you have a good decorative theme for your design
Add more shelves and a vertical partition. Why are the shelves at the height you have put them. Consider the size of the object you are designing the shelves for

All the parts should be made of hardwood, except the walls, they could be made of thin wood. I am not how you can make the cup holder but I think you could cut the bottom piece of it first then about the upper circle, I think you cut it from a big piece of wood. I don't know how would you cut it but I just you some suggestions because these was what I think of when you prepare the materials.

Are all the details I want included
Are there any improvements I can make to the design
eg curvs on corners, decorative details
Does it need any feet, adding feet can make it more sit better and protect any surface it will come to rest on.
How will it be decorated?
Look at examples of decoupage and collect together some images you would like to use. Dont choose glossy images as they will be hard to stick down.
Painting can be left to a later date if you wish.
