California has what we call a minority majority and we are considered one of the most liberal states in the country. 

We have many laws protecting against the discrimination against sexuality, race, and gender.

  • In California, latino males only make 81 cents to every dollar that a white male makes.
  • Latino Females in California  only make 79 cents to every dollar that white females makes. 
  • California passed the fair pay act which should have made the equal pay act stronger in the sense that employers have to pay everyone the same wage if they have the same job and they cannot discriminate against race, sexuality, or gender. Yet Latinos still do not make the same amount per dollar as whites and that just shows that discrimination still goes on even with laws in place.
