Our district has been continuing the Hıdrellez tradition by gathering in the same square for nearly a thousand years.

The joy of Hıdrellez continues to be celebrated annually in Hıdrellez Square, in a festive atmosphere. After the Turks settled in Anatolia, the Yoruks who came here settled down and continued to raise livestock. In the meantime, they continued to keep alive the traditions handed down from their ancestors. Hıdrellez has taken its place as an important one of these traditions. They named the village square Hıdrellez as the place to meet every year. Village people and their guests meet here every May 6th. Everyone wears their local clothes. Those whose sons will join the military donate a sheep each. The meat of the sacrificed animals slaughtered by the village headman, who organizes the event, is cooked by the women of the village. Dishes such as cooked chickpeas with meat, roasted meat, and rice with meat are offered to the guests gathered in the square by the young people who will go to the military.
