All students studying VET courses or undertaking school-based apprenticeships and traineeships require a Unique Student Identifier (USI). 

The USI system is a register of qualifications obtained by students and is useful for keeping track of qualifications earned over their lifetime.

Students interested in studying a TAFE course with CQUniversity may also be eligible for other TAFE Subsidised Training schemes or other payment options.

PaCIN (Pathway and Career Information Noticeboard) is for students, families and staff of St Stephen's Catholic College.

PaCiN aims to keep the college community up to date in the important and everchanging areas of Pathway and Career information and the world of work.

Formal WE is conducted in school holiday periods and can only commence after a Work Experience Agreement is completed.

Completing the Work Experience Agreement is essential to formally documenting and approving a student's placement, ensuring it is legal, safe, and beneficial. The agreement establishes the arrangement between the student, parent/carer, employer, and school, outlining the terms and conditions and providing essential legal protection and insurance coverage under the Education (Work Experience) Act 1996 (Qld).

The process starts with the student contacting a potential workplace, discussing a possible placement and completing a Work Experience Request (Form A) and submitting this to the Pathways Office. Pathways staff then proceed with completing the agreement and WE placement.

Students should contact Mr MacCallum if assistance with any of the above is required (especially contacting potential employers and/or worksites).

Apprenticeships are usually trade-focused, take longer to complete (around three to four years) and often lead to higher-level qualifications in fields such as electrical, plumbing, or carpentry. Traineeships are offered over a broader range of industries and are shorter in duration - typically 1 - 2 years. They often lead to a variety of different career pathways.

Queensland school students can undertake nationally recognised vocational education and training (VET) qualifications while at school. These courses can be taken in Years 10, 11 and 12.

VETiS funding can be used for:

• an eligible Certificate I or II course – referred to as "general training" and, or,

A QCAA LUI is a 10-digit number known as a Learner Unique Identifier, used to Year 10 students to track Senior studies and access the myQCE Student Portal.

Purpose: the LUI opens and links to your student learning account to record subject results and track progress toward a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE)

At SSCC: a LUI is created by the Curriculum Office (through QCAA) and normally issued to Yr 10 students at SET Plan meetings in Term 3.

Should a LUI be required earlier, please ask at the Curriculum Office.
