Their voices mixed with the guitar is what creates that inmate and active listening with the listener.

In the fourteenth chapter of the novel, Every Song Ever written by Ben Ratliff, he explores the ideas and context of what closeness means and how it impacts music. Closeness, as explored in this chapter, is described as elements in music working together in coordination rather than contrast. I agree with what Ratliff has to say on what closeness is and how artists use it to create a more intimate relationship between them and their listeners. It is not about two elements contradicting each other but rather working together in harmony.
