Chronos exhibition explores the complex nature and passage of time; how we relate to the past, how it influences our actions in the present and how we deal with our expectations for the future. And invites viewers to reflect on our awareness of time, how we organize our lives around it, and also the way we experience it.

Thinking about past experiences, I can add depth to the character.  

As a child, I spent a lot of time around water, not only in my hometown but where I went on holiday with the family.  This is where this sense of calm comes from.

Childhood was always calm as far as I could remember, it was when I grew older troubles started and the way top address then would become harder and harder.

The use of colours and the shapes I felt did put across what I wanted to achieve in terms of context, thought I would like to conitue with this piece and add to it further and create a longer narrative.

Brief

Think about each narrative above, and create some ideas for backgrounds.  Think about how to depict a positive and negative side, then create an animation over the top to interlink with your background. 

Objectives   

The direct purpose of this brief is for me to take on the above narratives and see how I can translate them through the method of using not only the animation but the background image.  Have them interlinked so they tell the same story but in different ways.



Audience

The audience would be people who would themselves be thinking about the damage in the world through technology and look for people to connect with that have the same out look in life.   

Approaches
Look at different theorist and artist who have tackled this types of subjects in their work

We have the original scene of the beach with the rubbish strewed all over.

A person is sitting on the beach wall, finishing their can on fosters, there not really paying attention to the scenery, as their eyes are just locked to their phone.

Bit by bit the sky starts to get dark, and weird sounds of moaning and heightened wind start to come across the beach.

The person looks up

They start to hear what sounds like movement across the sand, but not normal footsteps, this is more like a dragging sound.

I need to think about the story I want to tell and work through each of these points.

Further reading I have started to look at the character's back story and how when cresting the storyline it is, any root trauma that has a major factor in the character's actions will not be shown until at least two thirds into the story.

It is the final piece of a jigsaw puzzle, it helps explain why the protagonists are the person they are.

This can also help anticipation as these factors of a back story help build to a climax

You need to be able to design a product that can relate to your audience, remember that you are in control of the project

The context of this brief is to create a project of a subject I am passionate about in the realms of environment and conscious consumption. I want to create a piece that will show the impact of consumption and the litter that is left behind and maybe the resolution through artistic expression can help

Objectives:

 To show an unedited (narrative) of the situation in the world now and how the society of consumption is having a knock-on effect to everything in this world, and how some people do not notice the impact of their choice. Litter is being left not only in parks and streets but in our rivers too.

 

I want them to notice

Target Audience: 

 I would say for this project the audience will be everyone.  This is because I want this to be and educational approach as well as an artistic/visual tactic to show people all round the world the problems with overconsumption, production and people disposal of their rubbish.


Approaches: 

 I am going to use a portion of humour in this piece of work in the sense of a play on words, as well as movement of objects in places they shouldn't be.   This will be produced through the small snippiets of what I have seen around in the place near where I live and surrounding areas.

•The question will be how has the progress of our social and industrial structures affected our perception of the world and how we live?

•how many acts do I want it to involve?

•Think about ingredients, including protagonists etc

•Think about what I want the surrounding context to be Research from Mark Fisher and Baudrillard regarding the superficial world.

Desire/Journey-wanting to enjoy nature but have been led along a path of not making that effort to seek it for yourself with technology

The crisis-when they come back to the picture of nature it has turned into a pit of rubbish and dead industrial land

The Climax-They get upset

Resolution- This resolution shows the problem with our system and society, they just swiped to a new image.  In life, we are now just given an instant solution without really working for it.  This makes us complacent.

This is not a happy story.

I am going to roughly animated this through Procreate, which of you didn't know by now is my new best friend  :-)


This will have to be an ongoing project as it will take time to make this into an animation.

I will try out animating the lettering to start and think of different ways to make the letters move.
Giving off the idea that they are unstable (like the planets environment)
