Plus - Allows for students to become evaluators of their own and others' learning. This is true agency!
Minus - It can't be implemented without students being trained and having clear, focused success criteria for tasks so they can give accurate feedback. Just 'diving in' and allowing students to provide feedback that is inaccurate will do more harm than good.
Interesting - Graham Nuthall writes about this in ‘The Hidden Lives of Learners’. He literally taped microphones to students and recorded their conversations about learning throughout the school days. He noted that 80% of feedback students receive in a day comes from other students and 80% of that feedback is inaccurate! So schools will have a lot of work to do to implement this.
