John Adams was a federalist. Thomas Jefferson (John Adams vice president) was not a federalist. They both supported and had different parties. This led to multiple political opinions, views, and outlooks growing around the country. All the political parties start to get bigger and grow more, sections of the country were the south (a bunch of anti federalist farmers) don't support the northerners who are federalist due to there political outlooks. So in this scenario, the citizens were not voting on anything regarding growing the country, or economical situations (just basic politics) they mostly cared about there region. What ever party benefited there region, is what they voted for. With settlers moving more into the land they soon ran into the Native Americans and their land. After the Treaty of Paris in 1783 went into effect they assumed that they could settle anywhere. However, because the Natives were not involved with the treaty to them it was still their land. The British still had forts there. This led to the British encouraging the settlers to keep moving in but then the Natives would attack settlers which often happened. The settlers would send in their army to control them in modern-day Ohio.
