Planning a week stay in Narragansett RI with my kids/grandkids

I teach grade 8 Math in Norton Middle School. I have three adult kids, one in college. I hope to spend some time in NH this summer.

Foreign Language - Spanish 7 grade

Rest, rest, and ....rest. Maybe visit my family in Mexico.

I will be hiking Machu Picchu in about 12 days (and I don't think I'm ready!).

Also, I want to be able to determine when they are not necessarily doing their own work, but relying on AI or related technologies.

Seriously though - I have ADHD and it has been such a hack to help me get things done and organized. I don't have too many concerns at the moment because I feel like the good outweighs the bad and the rest is speculation.

My son in 5th grade does not want to use AI, as he worries it would be cheating and wants to do things on his own. I was also somewhat surprised to see his district (Canton) blocked chat gpt - but appreciate the limits as well.

Mostly AI has been in my life as song recommendations, ads and such. I don't really have any negative feelings, but occasionally my brain goes to the Matrix, one of my favorite movies.

I hope to learn more about how to use it efficiently and effectively with students.

I still have questions about "rooms" or "spaces" and how to use these with students.

I enjoyed the sentence starters, and the ability to read the responses back to the students. On the teacher's side I liked the social story creator. It definitely seems like a tool that can save teacher's time and increase engagement and success with all students.

I thought the Presentation Generation tool very interesting - and would reduce time, by giving guidelines on what should be included - or at least thought about. YouTube question generator may be a way to help students stay focused on the video, by giving them a task to complete as they watch. I also looked into the Writing Feedback tool. I liked how it gave strengths and areas for growth. I really would like to look into this feature from a student side - it could help make writing conferences much more efficient.

I'm looking forward to time at the beach with my daughters.

I tried one of the pre-made spaces on a "multiplication adventure" and it seemed to work pretty well, however I can see kids growing bored with only the text inputs.

I would like to try the spaces to set up something like a tutoring room for my math students.

I can quickly see how this can help my teacher tasks easier, like creating worksheets, study guides, quizzes etc.. I am finding that it is a bit more difficult for some of these tools to apply to math. I want to explore more about how to use this with students.
