Everyday life in a society where gender roles still exist. The first picture shows a corn mill that women use still to this day to grind corn to make corn flour for things such like tortillas. In the little towns the women have to hand wash clothes and the clothes are hanged up on a string so they can be dried with the sun. Men would always tell their spouse to do this, and they never thought about how much work it took. I vividly remember hearing family telling their wives "Hey wash that clothes and finish it fast." They say this without thinking of how dirty the clothes are and how tiring it is to be hand washing clothes with lots of stains that were brought from the woods when men were hunting.

I believe this tied into one topic of the class which we discussed. Which was from Week Two, where we discussed the gender roles set by society, Housewives relate to gender and sexuality in the context of gender stereotypes, traditional gender roles, and the oppression of women in domestic work. Several societies have established gender stereotypes that define specific behaviors, duties, and expectations for men and women. One of the most widely held assumptions is that women should be homemakers and caregivers, while men should be the major the primary income earners.

This traditional gender position is truly established in many societies, and women who reject these standards frequently suffer resistance or oppression. Women who choose to work outside the house or in historically male-dominated roles may face prejudice, lower compensation, and less prospects for promotion.

Another part of this problem is women being oppressed in home responsibilities. In many households, women are expected to perform the majority of household activities, such as cleaning, cooking, and laundry. This not only increases their workload, but also fosters the notion that women are inferior to males and should accept a limited position in society. I correlate the oppression from white men the same to men oppressing women to house duties.

Importance of Feminism

Based on the reading the thought of this correlating to the picture below made me think about what people may think when they see a woman with a bunch of men.

I see this as women can be looked at as an opinion about women expressing themselves and their rights in a male-dominated society. Throughout history, women have frequently been sidelined and excluded from decision-making and discussions that impact their lives. However, as gender, women's, and sexuality studies have grown in popularity, women have gained the ability to express themselves and challenge established gender stereotypes.

Emotions

I believe this created mixed emotions around society such as judgment for a woman joining a group of men. People may wonder what a lady is doing with them shouldn't she be at home doing chores. Others may not care; others might show positive interested about this.
