         <description><![CDATA[<div>  <strong><em>3 types of energy</em></strong> </div><div>Convection: transfer of heat by fluids</div><div>Conduction: heat transferred by touch </div><div>Radiation: energy in waves in one direction <br><strong><em>Tempeture scales: Fahrenheit, Celsius, and Kelvin </em></strong></div><div><strong><em>  Heat vs. Temperature </em></strong></div><div>Heat and Temperature mean different thing but are somewhat associated with each other. </div><div>Heat: molecules in motion </div><div>Temperature: is measured in a degree </div><div>  <strong><em>Summary</em></strong> </div><div>We did a lab during this section using Testing a type of energy called convection. During this lab each group in the class got these utensils; hot plate, pan, water, potatoe, and thongs. Each group would crap the potatoes in the water once it was at a boil. Also, each group got a different time they would cook their potatoes ( 5 min ,7min ,9min ,11min ,13min). After the potatoes cooked for our time we were given we would cut the potatoes in half and measure the ring on the cooked potatoe in the middle part that wasn’t cooked. Each times measured differently. This lab showed us that the potatoes cook from the outside to the inside.</div><div>  <strong><em>Favorite Cooked Food</em></strong></div><div>My favorite homecooked food would have to be pizza. When you cook pizza you usually put it on a pan in the oven. When the pizza is touching the pan to cook this is using Conduction.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>Boiling water <br>What do you think happens when you boil water?<br></em></strong>I think when water boils the energy heats up the molecules in the water witch makes it bounce around (boil)<br><strong><em>Boiling water lab:<br></em></strong>In the lab we took a hot plate and put a beaker on top of it. Inside of the beaker we placed water inside. Then we put a test tube with a thermometer inside of the water. We wrote down our starting water temp ,and then we did 2 min intervals to see the change in temp for 20 min. <br><strong><em>Heat of Vaporization- </em></strong>the quantity of heat required to convert a unit liquid mass at a specified temperature into vapor <br><strong><em>Heat of Condensation- </em></strong>the quantity of heat released when a unit mass of gas becomes a liquid <br><strong><em>Homework: </em></strong>Mine would have to be Paula dean. What I like about her personality and she’s happy and always cheerful.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong><em>Freezing Water <br>What do you think happens to the water when you freeze it? </em></strong>I think that When you freeze the water the molecules get jumbled together and close together not spread apart and bouncing everywhere like when you boil water.<br><strong><em>Describe freezing water lab: </em></strong>In the freezing water lab we put a test tube that was filled with water into a cup of ice. Every minute we would record the temperature on the thermometer until we had same degree 10 times.<strong><em><br>What did you learn from the freezing water lab? </em></strong>What I learned form the lab is that at zero degrees Celsius water freezes.<strong><em><br>Define vaporization, condensation,Sublimation, and deposition:<br>Vaporization: </em></strong>the change of state from a liquid to a gas <strong><em><br>Condensation: </em></strong>the temperature at which a gas becomes a liquid ata specified point.<strong><em><br>Sublimation: </em></strong>the conversion of a solid into a gas, without first becoming a liquid. Solid carbon dioxide sublimes at room temperature and pressure.<strong><em><br>Deposition: </em></strong>the conversion of a gas into a solid, without first condensending into a liquid; or, the formation of a thin layer of metal on an object by electrolysis. <strong><em><br>What does a heating curve show? </em></strong>During a phase change the temperature stays the same.<strong><em><br>Write down a scientific description of how food can be cooked and how heating curve can be used to explain these concepts. </em></strong>When you cook macaroni you use convection,and conduction. Convection would be the water you cook it in. Conduction is the pan touching the stove. When the water starts to boil ,and you put in the macaroni, it’s as hot as it’s gonna get. The change in the heat will not get any hotter it will stay the same.<strong><em><br><br><br></em></strong><br></div>]]></description>
