Ever Tell a Lie? - by Angelina Cowan-Byrns

I lied a lot as a child. I never lied about anything severe, but I was poor and I was constantly trying to make myself seem cooler to the kids at school who had 4 bedroom houses, nice cars, and the latest Air Jordans. I had the child Samtrans bus pass and Payless shoes. I always bought the same ones because I'd rub a hole in the soles of them so quickly that we'd need to get another pair for $11.99 every other month. I didn't want my classmates knowing my shoes were so cheap, they'd fall apart. But my mom could only afford small chunks of change at a time. So my childhood was wrapped up in a number of white lies I had to keep straight.

Anyone caught in a lie in our current society, especially with the presence of social media, is subject to being "cancelled". If I dared to carry on with all the white lies I told as a kid, now as an adult, plenty of folks would want to cancel me for sure. I think lower-income folks would want to cancel me because I was embarrassed enough of being poor I felt I had to lie. And upper-class folks would want to cancel me because I was a fraud. But it is my life, my story. Should a person be cancelled because they want to either protect their story or personal life with a mask? Let me put emphasis on MY STORY. Because cancel culture today, specifically on social media, feels like it has a say in if my story is valid or not. That's toxic. If I am not actively harming anyone with my story, and I choose how I want the world to perceive me, why should it be allowed for strangers on the internet to ban together an tell me what's right and wrong about the way I live my life?

Bottom line is there are no constraints to cancel culture and that in itself is toxic. If someone can be cancelled for telling a lie nearly twenty years ago, without any acknowledgement of their growth that is toxic. If someone has apologized for their poor behavior, and has not harmed another individual with their actions, and they still are considered 'cancelled', that is toxic! Cancel Culture is an skewed idea of holding others accountable for wrong doings. I'm all for accountability, but not when holding someone accountable means laying into an individual without letting up.

Can something you did 10 years ago affect you NOW? -By Jasmyn Anderson

Have you ever lied to your parents about where you were actually going when you were younger? Or have you ever lied to your parents in general? I know I have. I remember when I was younger, I would always lie about stupid little things. You know, typical kid things. Thing like taking the last cookie out of the cabinet or touching something I was not supposed to touch. One specific lie I remember telling is when my mom specifically told me not to touch her "special ornament'. It was around Christmas when we were taking ornaments out of the box and placing them on the tree. Her exact words were "Jasmyn, do not touch. It will break if it is dropped." And what did I do? I picked it up, dropped it, and it broke into tiny pieces all over the ground. After I dropped it, my mom asked if I picked it up and I said no when I obviously, clearly did.

If that lie affected a oppurtunity in the future, I would be very mad and this is an example of why cancel culture is toxic. I feel like the little things that you did 10-20 years ago should not determine how people see you now. In my opinion, cancel culture is toxic for the reasons of bringing up peoples very old past and judging the person based off of something they may have done in their past. I see that as completely unfair and toxic. Social media plays a huge role in cancel culture and how it has become toxic. Social media will dig up things from when you were just a baby, just to try and drag you down for one thing you did when you were a minor.

Every single day, I see somebody getting cancelled on social media for a tiny mistake they may have made plenty of years ago. It is not fair at all and this needs to change. Cancel culture can not be continued to be toxic because it is bad for our society. People are getting cancelled left and right for ridiculous reasons every single day. It is time for a change in cancel culture and it is time for a change in toxic-ness in cancel culture. An article that really stood out to me based on the subject of cancel culture being toxic was https://nypost.com/article/what-is-cancel-culture-breaking-down-the-toxic-online-trend/ . I agree with most of this article because it explains what toxic cancel culture is and how it is affecting the community and society.

Cancel culture is childish. Its childish because its a weapon used to bring down people and celebrities. Its a bunch of people hating on on someone because of their personal opinion on them, in my opinion its okay to have an opinion on somebody but bringing them down and and criticizing them to make yourself feel better is wrong.
My opinion on this is why does it even exist? like the whole point of canceling somebody is to bring them down so you can feel superior. This "cancel culture" trend started as a joke on twitter a long time ago but now it ruins people self esteems and makes them insecure, like people don't have to agree or like an artist but they need to stop acting like they have complete control over weather people should or should not support them because their making themselves look bad. Its a movement that's dangerous and has problematic behavior that doesn't stop until it reaches its goal.
We should cancel "cancel culture" because its nothing but hate and criticism

Do you think that its over board the way it is or is the way cancel culture is the best for people and the artist? is cancel culture the best way for people to address how they feel about artist and what they are accused of doing.

for me i think that cancel culture is very toxic because people are spreading negative feeling and thought and threats which makes the internet a very toxic and it makes people fight over topics about artist which has a big impact because it spreads negativity throughout the world. its also bad for the artist because it have bad effects on the artist mentally and physically and incomewise. it just makes it bad for both sides because the negativity that is being spreaded across social media.

i believe that there is a better way for people to share their feelings about artist like a website or like a blog something of that nature to try and stop the spread of hate and negativity in the world. what would you guys think about my ideas about cancel culture? Do you think that having a blog or a website to express the peoples feelings towards the artist and what they have done in their life would reduce the amount of negativity and hate in the world?

Does having the latest shoes make you smarter? Does having the fastest phone or laptop make you better in sports? Then why should your color help you or make life harder. But do you see the bigger pic. Like if you have a closed mind then you might just think I have the best shoes. That's it just cause you have them your on top? And your better sure your better in cloths... I guess but what about be a decent human do you have something or do something that wonts just make you better but everyone better. Ounces you see everything and stop zooming in to one thing you have and see what you need to fix or make better.

I would say if you see the things you need to fix then fix them. But don't think you have to go protest of the wrong but if you know and don't do it is a good step to stop the wrong but if you see it happening and can do even a little thing it can have a big differences. You can talk to younger kids in your family and see how they see things and then to tell them the big picture even if a little thing. Like whos better and they say taller or older kids and you can tell them yes and no like they are taller and can help and older can be more wise. But overall their not way better then people who are not the same.

Lastly you can have info of how to be better and be doing better but if you keep it to your self it will make you and what you do or touch better. But some with bad energy can undo what you did. So if you spread more good and have less evil because you will be more woke and all be.

Do fandoms go overboard with cancel culture? - Emily Deras

If someone doesn’t like your favorite artist do you have to be so toxic about it and cancel them?

I have seen so many fandoms talking bad about another fandoms artist. They look at their every move, especially K-pop stans. If you don’t know what K-pop stans are they’re basically the fandom of different Korean boy or girl groups. The fandoms SOMETIMES are very toxic because they target one person from the group and make fun of them or they search up past mistakes that they did to cancel them, and then they try to cancel not just the person that they specifically targeted but the entire group. The bigger the group, the bigger the fandom, the bigger hate you get by other fandoms trying to cancel that specific group. For example BTS is the biggest boy group right now they have a big fandom but with that comes a big amount of haters that are trying to cancel them. Which BTS’s fandom will try and fight back and protect them by bashing the other fandoms group. It creates a lot of toxicity in the K-pop community since everyone thinks their group is superior or better than the other.

How do I know this? Well because I experienced it myself. Cancel culture is very toxic especially for the Korean groups. Fandoms from other groups tend to send a lot of death threats, and call out the groups past mistakes. Sometimes they even target one specific member from a group, and they just send a bunch of hate, sometimes it evens results to that artist committing suicide...sadly. What do I think of this? Well from what I have seen it is such a horrible thing, and I’m thankful to say that I was never one of those people who sent death threats to any person. People should just enjoy the art that their artist makes and not bash other artists/fandoms by pointing out their negative sides. I know if every fandom concentrated on their own group there wouldn't be as much toxicity, but sadly people don’t mind their business.

With the information that I gave you I want you to understand that not every K-pop stan is bad, and that not all fandoms are bad, BUT it is very toxic. There will be bad people in fandoms but most of them are good people as long as you don't talk bad about their favorite artist because they will come for you if you do. Cancel culture can come in many different forms, for example spreading rumors, sending death threats, bringing up someones past mistakes, etc..People change throughout the years, but once people start cancelling you it’s hard to make an apology. To avoid all of the toxicity that people bring either don’t be a part of the fandom or just don’t engage with people that are spreading toxicity, and just enjoy your artist’s music. Which you should be doing in the first place and not having an argument with some random person on twitter about which group is better.

Hello lads, listen.... Do you want know why people can be against cancel culture? Do you want to know why I am teaming up against this? Well you have come to the right blog because I am here to explain my hatred towards cancel culture... Now let's begin! You lads are thinking what can cancel culture impact others, well allow me to explain. Cancel Culture is when we are disliking someone all because they did one thing. Here's why I dislike this, seriously one thing how cryptic is that letting that one specific thing go by for disliking? Clearly you got to have proof and not just assume someone for doing that awful thing. I am against those who assume I mean clearly that's awful man there are tons of bad people and you gonna assume one thing when there should be multiple. Therefore I want to say never assume lads or therefore you'll end assuming the wrong thing. Always find good evidence to prove yourself. Always join the good side to remove cancel culture as a whole.

Scrolling through Ticktock on and on. Until a post that says Charlie D'Amelio is getting canceled for going to the Bahamas. I go to the comments and start reading all the hate comment, "She talked about COVID and stuff but still hangs out with friends and went on a Trip." " No response" um does sis think she 's some sort of celebrity." Seeing all these comment, being tempted to say what I'm thinking but decide not too.

Now n days teens on ticktock are so toxic and make situations as bad as the Charlie D'Amelio problem even bigger by spreading hate towards her. I know we as young people we are used to speaking out when something isn't right. But there is a big difference by educating them to do better and spreading hate towards a 16 years old learning to navigate the world like all of us and especially her because she is in that industry.I'm not saying what she did was good and that her actions shouldn't be forgotten. I'm saying she should apologize and learn from her mistakes so that she her influence can make a difference.

I think people should stop hating on ticktockers for everything they do. It might be a really bad thing or a really dumb little thing, it shouldn't have to come up to people bashing them for there looks, style, and things they might post. Because at the end of the day we all make mistakes even if we try to be perfect. And that goes to ticktockers too. Somehow in this society it has been normalized to say hateful things which is something more people have to talk because it is very toxic. Because kids/teens like me will see those comments and think it is fine for them to do it without any consequences that is why Cancel culture is so toxic because it involves kids/teens who don't know thing.

This link is about a ticktocker Sienna talking about ticktockers getting cancelled: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-EuJ9jiN0c

Power in different Cases By-Eduardo Olivera-Diaz. Why is cancel culture so relevant now a days cancel culture can be something that shuts up people. Cancel culture comes in many forms and some people have to deal with this because of something they said or something that they said that offended someone. This affects people in different ways because they would lose their power to make a comment and everything in general would change. What I think About cancelling culture is something that people should stop doing because everyone has a right and own opinions to talk about but if you cancel that person the person has to be quiet. It is something that goes around anywhere and people go through this everyday. If you don’t agree when someone gets canceled then stand up and say something, share ideas, thoughts and put your opinion out there. Cancel culture can hit people in many ways and it’s something that people can see on the daily and in some cases that’s where struggles start happening.

To be completely honest, I don't think I've been canceled before but If someone did me wrong, I would not feel justified just because other people found out, it's not like other people need to know that this person is bad because otherwise, it wouldn't be fair to me. Cancel culture is all about making scandals on social media, only judging others, even celebrities for the smallest and most insignificant things. and they affect them in different ways for that reason, I am against it.

Cancel culture is getting out of control, for example James Charles, in 2019 he was canceled and a lot of people were so sure he was a predator. The number of people who spread this message was so great that he almost ended up committing suicide . Everyone was so on board with canceling James and now people are definitely standing up for him. And that’s not how it works, you don’t get to just switch around, those who support cancel culture.Still, people didn’t learn anything from that, they continue to cancel people and affect them .

cancel culture was all about reform and calling out others to be better human beings but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. People go overboard with all their negative comments, criticizing others especially to celebrities. Now that you know this information, it is clear that cancelling culture is just a way of blaming others publicly. If you have a problem with someone it would be better to stop talking to them or work it out privately.

People twisting your stories up and creating a bad figure out of you, something you're not.

Now imagine that but over something small, the amount of pettiness and ignorance behind that huh? Rotting people to their core, where they're criticized by just simply living their life. Successful, happy people's lives destroyed over one mistake they made, which they regretted the second it occurred. This is not something you recover from, even after death people are there to keep the memory of what you did. This kills their identity, you can't make an apology you can't show your face, because you are already marked by society.

My point is a mistake does not define a person, it doesn’t make someone who they could be. Learning from the worst mistakes is real, people really do change and can become the best version of themselves because of it. Now to do that just to get flooded with more ostracism, bashed with hate. People wake up thinking people just forgot, nah, they didn't nor will they ever forget. It's just something the poor people gotta live with now, thanks to some you.

Cancel culture has been around for a really long time. Cancel culture has destroyed many lives. ?What if people cancelled one of your loved ones what would you do? I believe cancer culture is a very harmful thing. It not only destroys careers but it also destroys lifes. Now cancel culture can be used but only if you have done your research and have both point of views. Some people have been cancelled wrongfully or have been cancelled for really odd reason. When people realize they have canceld someone wrongfully and their life is ruined thay cant really do anything. So i ask if you participate in cancel culture plese do your research and dont do it just to hop on a trend.

If someone supported an artist who was canceled would you go ahead and cancel them too? Would you threaten them? I've seen people on social media say they will stop supporting an artist or content creator for even following someone who was cancelled. All of that is unnecessary.

I think cancel culture isnt necessary. Usually those who participate in it talk about things that have happened 5+ years ago. People use it as a weapon almost. They will go and basically ruin careers. They will even go ahead and cancel people who still support those they have canceled. People will even go to the extent of sending death threats. The other issue I have with cancel culture is the fact that they will go ahead and cancel everyone but their favs or their favorite artist. If those participating in cancel culture want people to pay for their mistakes that should include everyone, not only the people they don't like.

Cancel culture just shouldn't exist. Early cancel culture was just people bring things to light they thought was wrong. Now it's truly a toxic thing that doesn't even help. Instead of canceling people left and right, we should start educating them on what they did wrong.

Is cancel culture truly about activism and cancelling someone or is it something many do in order to look and feel better about themselves? Activism stops being activism when self interest is being placed into the equation. There are those who truly care about a situation a celebrity has done and others who just participate so they can later on brag about the activism they've participated in.

In my opinion cancel culture is simply not necessary as well as toxic so you can say I am anti-cancel culture. There are people who genuinely care about what other artists have done and want to do something about it. Then there are those who do it out of self interest, to feel and look better because showing they were active in any type of activism is something that simply elevates you to seeming like a good person informant of many. Even if the activism is as dumb as tweeting out something about a problematic artist and that tweet getting many likes. This type of engagement is considered activism, even if it’s doing nothing but feeding one's self ego and interest.

If you truly care about a topic, if you aren't trying to get recognition then cancelling people isn't what you should be doing. There is so much better stuff you can do that shows you care. You can sign petitions, march, get a job that actually has some part in any type of activism or help. Cancel culture is just there to make many feel better about themselves and act as if they have done change when in reality they haven't done anything. If you care then you will do something, if you don't then just keep doing what you're doing, canceling.

As we all know and can see, cancel culture has gotten extremely toxic and out of hand. Cancel culture was started as a joke then turned into a way to bring light onto situations so that people can be held accountable for mistakes they have made. But now people have picked a new celebrity every few weeks to bully for dumb mistakes they made years ago. Everyone has now taken away what it was suppose to be used for just for their entertainment.
I don't support Cancel Culture because to me it feels like it no longer is helping and just putting more harm into the world. I also just feel like most people use this as an excuse to have everyone hate on someone they do not like for their own petty reasons. Cancel Culture has also made it to where once someone is "canceled" they can not fix or learn from what they have done, it keeps them stuck in a hole and once they find a way to escape they still have that hate towards the world.
I hope after reading this people start to understand that cancel culture is not something to support and should be stopped since its helping no one. A video that helped me better understand how cancel culture has gotten out of hand is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2c1hXl3NWU. Next time before you go and "cancel" someone please think "is this going to benefit or help the situation in any way?".

When is cancel culture supposed to be used and when is it taken too far? As we all know, cancel culture has been around for a very long time, and a lot people use it for the wrong reasons. Over the years of me being on social media there's been countless times where I've seen famous people and influencers get canceled over either major mistakes from the past / present or minor innocent mistakes that anyone could've committed. I definitely agree that what cancel culture has become is completely toxic especially on social media. Even though everyone is entitled to their own opinion, some people just take it too far. A way in how cancel culture gets out of hand, is when people get attacked for making a mistake they weren't aware of, like how a while ago an influencer on social media addressed someone of their incorrect pronouns without knowing it, and got a lot of backlash for it. The influencer apologized and still got attacked for it. It's one thing when you do something not being aware that it isn't okay to do and then doing something KNOWING that it's wrong and that's what I think is the biggest issue in cancel culture, because people will come for others for the dumbest reasons and just create a bad environment for everyone else. The point of cancel culture is supposed to be hold people accountable for their actions, but it is important to remember that when there is an innocent mistake committed, there should always be room for character development because once again, we are all humans and everyone makes mistakes.

What is the point of cancel culture? Simple, "get rid" of people who aren't great people. Obviously, with anything that gains popularity on the internet, it'll get taken too far. Cancel culture has been taken to far. I should mention that the idea of cancel culture isn't that bad, take away the platform that bad people have. However, recently cancel culture just seems to be an excuse people use to harass someone because they have a different viewpoint. Even before this big rise in "cancel culture" I've seen people be treated as "canceled" for having a different opinion. The reasons for being "canceled" seem to just grow, and the reasons don't even have to be of recent events. People will go out of their way to dig up information about someone to try to cancel someone and this is one of the few reasons I view cancel culture as toxic.

I'm not new to the whole cancel thing, present or past events. But it doesn't matter if someone is new or not to cancel culture, what matters is how the process of canceling someone is executed. The way people try to cancel someone is why I believe cancel culture is toxic. One great example I have for how cancel culture is toxic is a big situation involving a twitter user and a video game. A twitter user decided to post a picture of their avatar in the latest entry to the Animal Crossing series. The picture is incredibly simple, their avatar is sitting on the floor, yet many people became angered over this. Why? Because this twitter user had a hair style on their avatar that "are for POC NOT for people that are NOT POC." She simply thought a hair style was cute, in a piece of fiction, decided to use that hairstyle, in a piece of fiction, and people became outraged over this. Something like this could have easily been solved with calm and thoughtful reasoning but instead people decided to call her racist, doxed, and was told many times to end her life. This is a great example of cancel culture being toxic. Not only did people try to cancel someone over a piece of fiction, they also tried to drive this girl to end her life over it. Stuff like this happens all the time, this is just one example and the fact that anybody will be able to think of another example immediately should show that cancel culture is toxic.

With the example I have provided I hope I was able to show that cancel culture can be toxic. Keyword here is "can." Of course not everyone will result to the previous method as a way to cancel someone. My example is just meant to show that cancel culture can be extremely toxic and can have idiotic reasons as a motive but that doesn't meant that cancel culture as a whole is bad. Everything has toxicity, it just seems to show more when it comes to cancel culture when compared to other things. When it comes to cancel culture there is only one thing I want to happen. I just want for people to try to cancel someone logically. I find it more logical to cancel someone for a recent action then for an action far in the past. If this can't be done then I hope that people will be able to drop cancel culture so people can stop harming others who don't deserve to be harassed.

Think about a celebrity or artist that you don’t like and why you don’t like them. It can be because of their work, their actions, anything. Would you spend your time trying to cancel them or simply ignore them? The thing with cancel culture is that if a couple people don’t like an artist then they’ll do everything in their power to prove they shouldn’t be liked by everyone else.

When we cancel someone we try to hold them accountable for their actions and make them see why they are in the wrong. The down side to this is that some people go overboard and do things like dig up their past or wait for them to slip up in the present. There is no point in bringing up something someone did 5 years ago because who they were back then and who they are now can be a completely different person. Not believing people can change is an indication of who you truly are as a person and your standpoint in this argument. That just shows that you don’t think people are good or that they can change and that makes you a part of the problem with cancelling people.

If you don’t support someone then just leave them alone. I don't see a point in people wasting their time to prove why they shouldn’t be supported. Instead of spending all that time cancelling them, I think we should try to educate them. We should show and explain to artists why their actions were or are hurtful. Us as a society can’t go around cancelling everyone who says or does something disrespectful because then we will be stuck in this toxic cycle of hating on people.

Is there in any need to have cancel culture? Are they even using it right? As I can see is just people putting fingers at others and talking bad about them because of some few mistakes they commit.

In my opinion I believe that cancel culture is toxic and it is true that cancel culture is almost like a form of boycott in which someone, typically an artist or celeb, has shared a questionable opinion, or again, has had problematic behavior or mistakes called out on social media. That person is then “canceled,” which essentially means they were boycotted by a large number of people because they believe that what they did wasn't reasonable enough instead it was rude, racist, etc. But as I can see with my own eyes they are just a group of people who it seem, doesn't have anything what to do but say rash things to others and apply pressure to punish someone for perceived wrong opinions without even knowing what is going on but following the footsteps of others, sometime they cant even see if they are even giving the other party a significantly harmed in some way that is beyond the discomfort of merely being disagreed with. Another thing that I have a say in this is that people are foolish they just say stuff that doesn't in itself have proof with what they are saying and have no reason to criticize someone so harshly if there wasn't any reasonable evidence found that explain their actions on why they did it.

With the information that I given, I want everyone to understands that in some ways cancel culture is bad, toxic that can harm one personal health and being but as well that is very unreasonable if others doesn't use cancel culture in a way that is right but instead to criticize others even though the other party had already apologize sincerely and hadn't commit another mistakes since then or there even others that were accused for something they believe they did without even having any physically evidence that they did it and were guilty. They just don't realize that not all typically artist or celeb are bad or had done something bad on purpose.
here an article I found that point my idea.

everyone views cancel culture in different ways, but mostly everyone thinks that cancel culture is toxic. To me cancel culture can be very toxic but i have a understanding that cancel culture is good and bad at the same time. I feel that cancel culture has a toxic side of course but it also has a good side. For example peoples lives don't have to be ruined for one thing that they said 11 years ago or even 4 years ago, but i feel like if your doing something wrong right now or even a year ago you deserve whats coming to you. I also feel like cancel culture is fair because they give you back the same energy as you were giving in the past or the present. Now with this information i want you to think of cancel culture in a different way then you thought of it before and i was you to realize that many good things come from cancel culture. But there is a toxic side that you have to keep in mind especially if you are participating in cancel culture.

Have you ever made a huge mistake that weighed you down? Maybe I should ask a better question, have you ever been held accountable for something which made you feel really bad? Well I have. I've made so many mistakes in my life time and every day I look back and ask myself ¨what could I have done different?¨ Like for example telling lies, going places I wasn't supposed to, talking back, or even being mean to others, these mistakes have had big affects on my life. Then having people nag at you because of a certain mistake really takes a tole.

Little mistakes are like the biggest crime now a days in society. When it comes to cancel culture that little mistake can defined a life time for you. I learned from my mistakes, but should my mistakes cancel my future? No, my 15 year old self shouldn't affect my 25 year old self. The past will always follow you but learning from your mistake will make sure you dont repeat them again. Make you somewhat a better person. In order to move forward you have to acknowledge the mistake by working through it and making sure you understand what was done, as well as knowing how it impacted others. Things like cancel culture are what make society and people so toxic. Its an urge to make sure that If a person has done wrong, they are known for it and held accountable everyday.

I believe that because of something you did should not define your future. The understanding of when to cancel someone is very important. It becomes toxic when you continuously cancel this person after they acknowledge and apologized for something they did. Bottom line is, I want people to understand that everyone has a right to have an opinion, but its the way you voice them. The old sane ¨treat people the way you want to be treated¨ should go both ways for when your voicing your opinion. Lets not be toxic towards other because we all have done something that will probably haunt us for ever.

Well have you heard or seen artists be canceled straight away by people? Since being convicted or accused without first listening to their side of their story or at least have evidence that back their claims? No, their have not been many who at least ask the artist if what they did is true or at least wait before they find the truth behind it.
In my own opinion I believe people have gone overboard in canceling many artists though I know that some do deserve it but still they shouldn't over do it in which they might or could have ruined someone life. Plus we all had made mistakes in our life which sometimes some of them regret later on, and at least some try to apologize. Furthermore for the canceled person that is being verbally attacked online by thousands of people will feel like the whole world is attacking them making it one of the biggest mental health risks that someone could experience. Which they might have a mental breakdown, ruining them or worse it could lead them to commit suicide.

With the information that I have given you I want you all to understand that anyone can make mistakes and through those mistakes they can learn from them to correct themselves. Besides doesn't this make us humans, in which it can make us how we grow and develop as people. So you shouldn't use it wrongly or cancel others because of some people's grudges, etc. After all we don't know what the truth is therefore we must stop accusing, assuming or straight away taking action but instead have a clear mindset on what the situation or problem is and wait for the result to come out. Plus some who were canceled they could've been innocent that were dragged down with their career or life destroyed.

How is cancel culture considered toxic?-Jhaunte Helton

Cancel culture is most commonly brought up nowadays with bringing up peoples past and if they find something they don’t like, they choose to cancel the specific person. This is a way of people using their freedom of speech to get what they want. Cancel culture is usually used to end people’s careers, silence people they choose to go against and to remove followers/clout from those who have bigger platforms. But, what's the point of bringing up the past to cancel people?

Canceling someone nowadays is almost like boycotting them or their platform. For example, people get canceled for things like being supporting negative people, being homophopic or making homophobic slurs ,saying racial slurs to or about someone and lastly not showing empathy for sensitive situations. Some examples of people who have been canceled for these things are Kanye West, he got canceled for supportig Donald Trump when the majority of people in the United States disagreed with him and his actions and decided to cancel him for doing so. Another person that was canceled was Kevin Hart, he was seen tweeting homophic saying/slurs and many people didn’t agree with what he was saying and felt he was wrong and decided to cancel him in general. Basically what i am saying is that if you do anything similar to this, you are just asking to me cancled by the people on social media.

The main reason why i said cancel culture is toxic is because all you are doing is lowering the person's social status or removing some followers from their platform but what does it really do? When a person (especially celebrities) get cancelled they get lots of backlash and people tend to do things like gain others to go against them, sabotage them, or even make threats to the specific person or their family, and my main question is what do you gain from that?

In conclusion, i think that if you dont agree with something someone says or does instead of “canceling them” you should just simply choose to not support them or their work. I think that it makes things alot easier and it doesnt allow other people’s opinions to feel invalid if you are trying to cancel someone they support.

I think that cancel culture is needed because people that are famous get away with a lot. This leads people to think that is okay to do it. When people get cancelled it seem to only last a minute and then people forget, The artist are allowed to go back and make money. I think that people need to be cancelled period! They should to be able to make money or anything, they might have ruined a person’s life.

I am against the violence because they because people need to be treated equal and it should not happen. Artist should be cancelled because they are doing bad things and some are committing crimes. These people have power but are causing trouble. For example, Donald Trump, is racist and he caused the riot at the capital. He also made racial comments about people from other countries, that lead has followers to think it was okay to be violent. I think stealing, drugs/dui and weapons, and racism can be cause for jail and cancellation.

The more people that stop listen, watching there stuff they should realize what they have done and probably won't do it again because of all the hate they have gotten
