It is not enough to just guarantee services and free and appropriate education, but we must also ensure they have the technology to excel and perform at their highest potential. Schools need training and funding in order to get the most out of assistive technology. -For students with disabilities, like Sady, I think it is really important to put a great deal of emphasis on educating them within the general education curriculum. Sady had cerebral palsy, which affected her physically but not so much mentally. If she did not have access to assistive technology and the general education curriculum, she might not have reached her full potential. Prior to this law and other laws pertaining to students with disabilities, many students probably missed out on the correct education to fit their needs. Those students need life skills and preparation for their future, including living independently. This act helps to ensure students with disabilities are prepared for what the future holds. Not only that, they are prepared to seek gainful employment and continue their education if they so choose.
